Carson Palmer made his debut with the Oakland Raiders a bit earlier than expected.
With Kyle Boller struggling mightily, Palmer replaced the ineffective quarterback in Sunday's contest against the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs.
Boller amassed just 61 yards and tossed three interceptions - one of which was returned for a touchdown. Palmer entered the game with Kansas City leading 21-0.
The Raiders lost starter Jason Campbell to a broken collarbone last week and beat the trading deadline in dealing a pair of high draft picks to the Cincinnati Bengals to Palmer, who had not played or practiced since December.
It was a whirlwind week for Palmer, who met the media, began absorbing the playbook and renegotiated his contract. He was thought to be inserted as the starter, although coach Hue Jackson refused to reveal his decision.
