MLB Injury News:
As the Texas Rangers fight to maintain their spot atop the American League West, they will be getting help. Neftali Feliz, who has been out all season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, is set to come off the disabled list early next week. In fact, if all goes well, he is on pace to be activated Monday.
Feliz all but confirmed the likely activation on his Twitter account yesterday.
Traveling to #Oakland... #VAMOS!! #rangers

The Rangers will be taking on the Oakland A's starting Monday. If Feliz is traveling with the team to Oakland, it must mean he will be on the active roster. Feliz's rehab has gone well after a minor setback earlier in the month, so he has likely passed all the tests the Rangers could have hoped he would pass. If he is ready, and if he is activated, it could be a nice boost for Texas.
Feliz was converted to a starter last season after spending his first three years in the bullpen. The transition seemed to be going smoothly as he posted a 3-1 record and a 3.16 ERA over seven starts, but then Feliz was injured. Overall, Feliz has appeared in 162 games in his career and has a 2.67 ERA. The Rangers can certainly use that type of production on the mound.

ARLINGTON, Texas The need for a left-handed pitcher prompted the Texas Rangers to recall Joseph Ortiz from Triple A Round Rock Friday.
To make room for Ortiz the Rangers sent Ross Wolf to Triple A. The club will recall Wolf after Round Rock ends its season Monday.
The Minnesota Twins have five left-handed hitters and started four against the Rangers Friday.
Ortiz was 2-1 with...
Just as some baseball people don’t believe that a player can be clutch or that certain hitters possess a special talent for driving in runs Yu Darvish doesn’t believe in the concept of the ace pitcher.
A team’s best starting pitcher has the same task as the weakest link of the rotation — to allow fewer runs than the opposing pitcher while working deep into a game — and...
The Texas Rangers have been doing just fine despite Matt Garza's struggles and Nelson Cruz's suspension.
They could use a few good starts from the former, however, to set up a potential return for the latter in the postseason.
Texas will seek to ride Garza to its 23rd win in 30 games Saturday night against the Minnesota Twins.
The Rangers (78-56) have generally looked...
Yu Darvish doesn’t care if people consider him an “ace” or not. All he cares about is striking batters out.
Darvish leads the American League in strikeouts, and she showed why with his arsenal of pitches in Fridays game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Brew Crew third baseman Trevor Plouffe got his second look of the game against Darvish in the top of the fifth inning, and Darvish...
Leonys Martin homered and drove in a career-high four runs as the Texas Rangers roughed up Felix Hernandez and romped past the Seattle Mariners 12-4 Thursday.
The AL West-leading Rangers tagged Hernandez (12-8) for nine runs and 11 hits in three-plus innings. The former AL Cy Young winner's ERA climbed from 2.63 to 2.97.
Martin Perez (8-3) limited the Mariners to two runs and...
It took Twins right-hander Liam Hendriks 18 big league starts to get his first career win. He needed seven more starts to get win No. 2.
To do it, all he had to do was outduel Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish.
Hendriks allowed two runs (one earned) through six innings, and the Twins broke up Darvish's no-hitter in the seventh inning to score three runs and give Hendriks the win...
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Yu Darvish's latest no-hit bid got broken up in a big way when Chris Herrmann hit a tying, two-run homer in the seventh inning and Justin Morneau followed with a home run that sent the Minnesota Twins over the Texas Rangers 3-2 Friday night.
Minnesota snapped a five-game losing streak on a night when it looked as if the strikeout-prone Twins had no chance...
No pitcher has ever lost more games to the Texas Rangers than one of the best pitchers in the game today.
That doesn’t seem to any make sense but it’s true. And Felix Hernandez suffered his worst beatdown by the Rangers on Wednesday afternoon as they ready for the stretch run.
Leonys Martin hit a three-run homer and drove in a career-high four runs and the Rangers rocked Hernandez...
Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish has been having on heck of a season. The Japanese phenom is certainly shaping up to be one of the best in the game, and proved that once again with an 11 strikeout performance (his fifth start in his last seven with 11+ strikeouts) against the Minnesota Twins Friday night.
With stuff like this it comes as no surprise that batters are baffled when...
