The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms with right-hander Yoshinori Tateyama on a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to spring training. Tateyama, who turns 37 next week, spent parts of the last two seasons with the Rangers. Tateyama made 53 appearances with the Rangers over that span, going 3-0 with a 5.75 ERA in 61 innings of work. The sidearmer also struck out 61 batters. Tateyama had three stints with the Rangers in 2012, allowing 17 earned runs in 17 innings. He was dominant for Triple A Round Rock, going 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA. The Rangers now have 54 players on their spring roster, including 39 on the 40-man roster.
