The New York Rangers have traded forward Erik Christensen to the Minnesota Wild for forward Casey Wellman and a 2013 seventh round draft pick. Wellman will be immediately assigned to the Connecticut Whale of the AHL, but the more important issue here is getting rid of Christensen's one-way contract. Christensen, in my opinion, has not had a roster spot on this team for two seasons now, but it was only this season in which head coach John Tortorella finally decided to give up on the unproductive enigma. Christensen's exit was long overdue, and no matter what the return is, I'm happy to see him off the roster - there's no room for him in New York anymore. Christensen had one goal and four assists in 20 games played with the Blueshirts this season. Meanwhile, Wellman recorded 2 goals and 5 assists in 14 games with the Wild this year.
