PLAYERS: David Price
TEAMS: Tampa Bay Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays and ace pitcher David Price have reached an agreement on a one year contract.  The exact terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the team avoids arbitration by reaching an agreement with Price.  He still has one more year of arbitration eligibility before he becomes a free agent. Jerry Crasnick of ESPN was one of the first to report the deal.  He says the deal will likely be worth somewhere around $10 million.  David Price signs 1-year deal with #rays to avoid salary arbitration, source says. espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id… — Jerry Crasnick (@jcrasnick) January 1, 2013 Price has been the Rays best pitcher for years now.  He has also been the source of constant trade rumors. Because of the way Tampa Bay must operate, the whole world knows the Rays must trade Price now that he is getting expensive.  They generally try to lock their cost-controlled players up to long-term deals early on before they get too expensive via arbitration.  In Price's case, the team will probably have to trade him because of how much he is already making.  Price was 20-5 with a 2.56 ERA last season.  He remained healthy all year long and took home the American League Cy Young award.  Price has started at least 30 games in every season since 2010.  He is the epitome of what a team looks for in a player in terms of consistency and durability.  Now, the question is simply a matter of how long Tampa Bay can hang on to him.  Follow @mlbinjurynews !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://www.mlbinjurynews.com//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs"); var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-34100676-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ?
