Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie
The Philadelphia Eagles secondary had a tough time last season. Stacked with talent, the unit simply couldn’t find a way to effectively utilize the skills of its three Pro Bowl corners Asante Samuel, Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Several smart moves by the Birds this offseason–hiring secondary coach Todd Bowles, bringing in DeMeco Ryans, having a smart draft strategy–have ensured that the team’s D will put in a better showing this season than last. Something else that will work in the favor of Philadelphia’s defense is putting Rodgers-Cromartie and Asomugha in situations where they are known to perform best.
Having a year with the Eagles under his belt has helped Asomugha feel more comfortable with the team’s defense and their expectations of him.That comfort level is not related to Samuel’s departure from the team, according to Asomugha.
