KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chris Davis and J.J. Hardy each drove in three runs and the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Kansas City Royals 9-2 on Monday night to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games. Davis, who leads the majors with 97 RBIs, drove in a pair of runs with a sixth-inning double and another with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Hardy homered, his 17th of the season, in the four-run sixth with Davis aboard. He picked up another RBI in the third when Davis scored on his ground out. The Orioles' 18-hit attack matched their season high and included seven players with multi-hit games, including three each by rookie Henry Urrutia, Nick Markakis and Hardy. Nate McLouth reached base five times - two hits and three walks. Scott Feldman (2-1), who was acquired in a July 2 trade from the Chicago Cubs, was the beneficiary of the offense, picking up the victory.

Santana 'blows up' over trade rumors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Will Royals right-hander Ervin Santana be traded? Will he stay with the Royals and sign a long-term deal? Who knows? I chatted with Santana on Tuesday about all the possibilities, and he was his usual easygoing, laid-back self. And later, Santana posted a pretty funny video on his Twitter account with the heading Trade Rumors," a video that probably sums...

The Baltimore Orioles are aggressively making changes to get back to the playoffs. The return of Wei-Yin Chen seems to have already bolstered their chances. Chen looks to win a third straight start since returning from the disabled list while the Orioles attempt to re-establish themselves at the plate against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. Baltimore (57-44) holds one...

Santana says he would listen to Royals about contract extension

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Royals right-hander Ervin Santana doesn't know what his future will bring, particularly in the next week leading up to the July 31 trade deadline. But he does know one thing: He'd be happy staying right here in Kansas City for this season and beyond. "I like it here," Santana told FOXSportsKansasCity.com. "I'm happy here." Santana...

Speedy Dyson would love to turn back the clock to that day in Anaheim

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- If only Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson could jump into a time machine. Dyson would go back to May 15 in Anaheim, Calif., and just ignore that towering home run ball from Mike Trout of the Angels. But Dyson didn't. He ran up the wall -- somewhat Bo Jackson style -- and tried to snag the ball, which was well out of his reach. And on his way down, Dyson somehow...

Royals leave impression on Tigers, still have ways to go

KANSAS CITY The glass is well, it's fuller. Or less empty, if you choose to look at it that way. The Kansas City Royals got what they wanted out of the first post-All-Star-Break weekend; namely, to gain ground against the Detroit Tigers, the cream of the American League Central. They took two of three from the Kitties at Kauffman Stadium, notching two dramatic, fan-pleasing...

Francisco Rodriguez traded for Baltimore 3B prospect

The Brewers have traded veteran reliever Francisco Rodriguez to the Baltimore Orioles for third base prospect Nick Delmonico. Several teams had shown interest in Rodriguez, 31, who signed with the Brewers after the season began but eventually became their clsoer. He was 1-1 with a 1.09 ER in 25 games and had converted all 10 of his save opportunities. But, with the team mired in...

Orioles 4, Rangers 2

Chris Tillman pitched into the ninth inning in his return from the All-Star game and the surging Baltimore Orioles beat the Texas Rangers 4-2 on Sunday night to sweep a three-game series between 2012 playoff teams. Matt Wieters had two hits and scored twice to help the Orioles (56-43) move a season-high 13 games over .500 with their seventh victory in eight games. They sure seem...

Orioles-Royals Preview

Scott Feldman closed out the first half by recording his first win with the Baltimore Orioles. He'll try to earn another by adding to his string of respectable performances against the Kansas City Royals. Feldman will also seek to lead the Orioles to a season-high fifth consecutive win in Monday night's series opener at Kauffman Stadium. After getting tagged for seven runs...

Royals squander numerous scoring chances but still beat Orioles 3-2

Start with this: The Royals should have been on cruise control Tuesday night entering the ninth inning. They were, instead, clinging to a two-run lead after wasting a bushel of scoring opportunities. And then things got tense before Greg Holland, in All-Star closer form, closed out a 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles by stranding the tying run at third base with no outs. “Our...
