One story kind of slipped through the cracks during all the National Signing Day hoopla on Wednesday, and it’s a pretty great one. Florida athlete Dacorius “D.J.” Law got so excited about signing with a college that he decided to send in his Letter of Intent … to three different schools. Law had an announcement at his school that was a little confusing, then his mother signed a Letter of Intent for Ole Miss, which was then faxed that morning. Easy enough, right? Nope. That afternoon, Law apparently had his father sign a Letter of Intent to Utah, and they sent that in. On top of all that, Law also signed with East Mississippi Community College on Wednesday, but that was done as a backup option in case he doesn’t meet NCAA academic standards. So yeah, he signed with three separate schools. During his announcement he was apparently seen putting down an Ole Miss hat, then setting down a Utes hat, before picking it back up. He was later shown wearing the Utah hat while signing his Letter of Intent. Ole Miss announced Law’s signing at 8:23 a.m. CT, while Utah announced his signing at 3:36 p.m. A Utah spokesman later claimed the school had received his letter earlier in the day. Law lives with his mother, Veronica Purnell, and maternal grandparents, and Purnell claimed she had no idea he was going to sign another letter later in the day. On Thursday Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze announced that the school would be releasing Law from his Letter of Intent, which should end the matter. It looks like Law will be headed to Utah.
