Found July 25, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
With Clay Buchholz's injury keeping him out for longer than expected, the Boston Red Sox are looking for reinforcements.  They want to maintain their hold on first place, and they are willing to make trades to do so.  One such trade that has been discussed is a deal that would send Will Middlebrooks to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Jake Peavy. Scott Merkin of says the deal will likely not happen until next week, but it seems all but certain that Peavy will be moved somewhere.  Scouts will be on hand to watch Peavy's start tonight.  As negotiations continue, the White Sox may ultimately get a better offer than Middlebrooks (and whoever else the Red Sox may throw in there), but from Boston's perspective, Peavy would be a nice addition. The Red Sox were riding high with Buchholz's ace-like performance for most of the first half of the season.  Now, however things have changed.  He is injured and not sure when he'll come back.  They need someone to help fight off the charging Tampa Bay Rays.  Peavy could be the perfect fit. Even if Boston had to give up the once-coveted Middlebrooks, most fans would be alright with the deal if it meant a postseason berth.  After last year's debacle, Red Sox fans are salivating at a chance for their team's redemption.  Middlebrooks has not quite panned out as the Red Sox would have liked and is currently playing at Triple-A.
