AP Photo/Reed Saxon Conor Frederick Contributing Writer According to Masslive.com, the Red Sox will have scouts at Chicago White Sox starter Jake Peavy's start on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers. This is only his second start since June 4th, as he has been out with a rib fracture, according to MassLive. The Red Sox will also want to see reliever Jessie Crain pitch, as they could be interested in cutting a deal for Crain as well, according to MassLive. So, what could Jake Peavy bring to the Red Sox? Well, he has a 4.12 ERA, and 8.5 strikeouts per 9 innings (which is his highest rate since 2009), according to MassLive. As there is not a clearcut timetable for Clay Bucholz to return, making a move for Peavy would make sense. As Peavy is not an ace, we most likely will not have to give up too much in terms of prospects. The one red flag for me is that Peavy is signed through 2014 for $14.5 million each year, with a conditional player option worth $15 million in 2015, accordi...
