This is only his second start since June 4th, as he has been out with a rib fracture, according to MassLive. The Red Sox will also want to see reliever Jessie Crain pitch, as they could be interested in cutting a deal for Crain as well, according to MassLive. So, what could Jake Peavy bring to the Red Sox? Well, he has a 4.12 ERA, and 8.5 strikeouts per 9 innings (which is his highest rate since 2009), according to MassLive. As there is not a clearcut timetable for Clay Bucholz to return, making a move for Peavy would make sense. As Peavy is not an ace, we most likely will not have to give up too much in terms of prospects.
