Its really not a surprise is it? After all, nothing ever comes easy for this edition of the Detroit Red Wings. Five weeks ago, Detroit had to string together four victories in the last week of the season just to make the playoffs. Two week laters, they faced elimination twice and had to win back-to-back games, including a Game 7 on the road against the number two-seed, Anaheim Ducks. So, this Wednesday night in Chicago, the team that continuously teeters on the brink of elimination will be right back on the edge - needing to win a hockey game or the final curtain will finally be drawn on this improbable Red Wing season. Going in to this series if you would have said wed have a chance to play a game seven in Chicago, we would have been pretty happy about it, Red Wing captain Henrik Zetterberg said after the Wings dropped a 4-3 decision, Monday night to the Blackhawks, forcing a winner-take-all Game 7. Zetterbergs declaration about the series going 7 games was a common theme t...

Joakim Andersson subtly produces for Wings

Chicago -- When you're playing on a line with Damien Brunner and Gustav Nyquist, you're not going to get a lot of attention. But that doesn't bother Joakim Andersson. "They're more skilled than I am and maybe they're more pretty to watch," Andersson said, smiling after Saturday's morning skate. Brunner had 12 goals and 14 assists in 44 games during...

Well this is crappy news with a significant silver lining, per the Detroit News's Ted Kulfan: Losing Game 5 Saturday was bad enough, but forward Justin Abdelkader received more bad news afterward. Rapping Red Wings Series Reset: Detroit’s Two Chances During This Game Seven? Slim and None

The Detroit Red Wings blew their only real opportunity to eliminate the Chicago Blackhawks with a bad third period on Monday. It won’t be the worst collapse in Red Wings’ playoff...

He’s No Adams, But Uncle Mike Is The X Factor Tonite

Naturally, because he's the coach of the Detroit Red Wings, Mike Babcock wasn't nominated for the Jack Adams award.  Joel Quenneville, with the most talented team in hockey, was.  Babcock, even before the Anaheim series, has been brilliant all along.  He raised the little puppies when all (ok...many) of us thought he was literally trying to get fired.  He recovered from...

The Detroit Red Wings will try to accomplish something Wednesday night in Chicago that has happened only four times in Stanley Cup playoff history - win a Game 7 on the road for the second time in the same season.
