Found November 13, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
Something tells me that today's Toast of Hockeytown might be a slightly tense affair given the Red Wings' performances at Joe Louis Arena of late. The Red Wings may have lost five of their past six games at Joe Louis Arena in overtime, but they've still lost six straight at the Joe, and having been swept by the Winnipeg Jets via a 3-2 shootout decision complimenting the Wings' 4-2 loss in Winnipeg ten days ago, the team's record speaks for itself: 3 wins in their last 11 games, a 3-4-and-4 record, and... Well, a lack of results despite what really was a dominant performance minus results. Red Wings assign Jordin Tootoo to Grand Rapids

The Detroit Red Wings have assigned forward Jordin Tootoo to the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he will be in uniform for Friday’s game against Rockford. With Jonathan Ericsson coming off long-term injured reserve to play for the Red Wings Friday against Washington, the club also has sent defenseman Xavier Ouellet back to the Griffins. And if right wing Patrick Eaves clears waivers...

Looks like the Red Wings will be bidding adieu to Patrick Eaves

The CBC's Elliotte Friedman reports that the Red Wings are waiving Patrick Eaves, and it's hard to imagine that he won't be picked up with an an at-least-not-terrible-to-snag $1.2 million salary... Mills (CHI) and Eaves (DET) on waivers — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) November 14, 2013 Does Eaves being waived pave the way for Gustav Nyquist's recall...

Overtime modifications on table at GMs meeting

Ken Holland has long been one of the leading proponents of extending overtime to decide more games before the shootout, and the Detroit Red Wings general manager said Tuesday he thinks the support for such an action is growing among his peers. Overtime was one of the popular subjects at the general managers meeting in Toronto. Holland has proposed in the past to have five minutes...

Red Wings prospect news: RWC issues fall top 20…er, 21 prospect list; on the Griffins’ week ahead

I'm going to do this Red Wings prospect-related entry a little backwards. I usually lead whatever entry coincides with the Grand Rapids Griffins' press release with the...Grand Rapids Griffins' press release. On Tuesday evening, however, RedWingsCentral posted its slate of fall prospect rankings, and these rankings tend to be pretty influential, so here's a small...

Chelios gets assist from friend en route to Hall

TORONTO (AP) -- Playing in the NHL wasn't Chris Chelios' dream. It was Bobby Parker's. Parker was a defenseman from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, with enough of a future in hockey that a few colleges offered him scholarships. He chose United States International University in San Diego, Calif., where Chelios was enrolled and trying to make the team as a forward in the fall...

Red Wings-Jets pre-game skate: Holland at the GM’s meetings; on fighting, Glendening and Hasek

Ahead of toight's game between the Red Wings and Winnipeg Jets (7:30 PM, FSD/TSN Jets/1270 AM), Red Wings GM Ken Holland made some noise of the non-personnel variety, as noted by the Canadian Press... More Moves Coming For The Wings

from Ansar Khan of Mlive, ... the Red Wings will need to make a couple of moves to accommodate the return of defenseman Jonathan Ericsson, who is expected to come off long-term injured reserve and play Friday against the Washington Capitals at Joe Louis Arena. Jordin Tootoo, who cleared waivers last week, likely will be assigned to Grand Rapids. Patrick Eaves might be waived...

Sharks assistant coach videobombed by Muppets character Waldorf (Video)

San Jose Sharks assistant coach Jim Johnson was videobombed by a fan sitting in the front row right behind the bench wearing a mask of Muppets character Waldorf during Sunday's game in Winnipeg. We'll leave it to our readers to imagine what kind of heckling Waldorf, who apparently is a Jets fan, would have given the Sharks during the game. Unfortunately, there was no sighting...

Red Wings prospect catchy-uppy post: Griffins win, Walleye up and down, Janmark dodges a bullet

The general rule for a blogger who's missed time is, "Don't play catch-up," but I make an exception in the case of the Wings' prospects. So, on a league by league basis, and very briefly, here's a summation of what took place over the past...five evenings. Detroit Red Wings Continue Losing Trend, Fall 3-2 to Jets

Winnipeg Jets vs Detroit Red Wings Jets 3 Red Wings 2FINAL     The Detroit Red Wings put up another effort and outshoot the Jets sorely, but ultimately fall 3-2 in the shootout. The Red Wings came out into the first period with a very slow, sloppy start, as has been the norm for them heading back even into last season. A few untimely...

Red Wings Thursday practice post: Tatar may sit Friday, Eaves waived

The Red Wings got back to work at the Joe today, hoping to solve their scoring issues ahead of tomorrow night's game against the Washington Capitals. This time Tatar is...

GDT: Red Wings vs Jets

As usual, I have nothing witty or otherwise remarkable to add. Continue reading "[11/12/2013] GDT: Red Wings vs Jets"

Red Wings Recap 11.12.13

Wings fall in a shootout to the Jets, 3-2. They played well for the most part, but can’t win. More after the jump: Howard has to be better. He’s making too much money to have a goal per game that he regrets giving up. Defend him if you want, but he has been better before. Still, you’re not going to win many games when you only score 2 goals. The team has to find...
