Found October 27, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
The Detroit Red Wings' schedule ahead is a busy one: they'll leave town on Tuesday to take part in what is now a once-yearly Western Canadian swing, playing the Canucks on Wednesday, October 30th, heading to Calgary on Friday, November 1st, battling the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday the 2nd, heading to Winnipeg to finally play the Jets on Monday the 4th. Then the team returnshome for a 4-game home stand and a month in which the team will play 8 of their 11 post-Western Canadian swing games at home. Something tells me that some of the Wings' players wanted to leave for Vancouver immediately after Saturday's game given the eggs the Wings have laid over the past week. The Wings followed up their 5-2 loss to Phoenix a week ago Saturday with at least something of an improvement, opening their 3-game home stand with a 1-0 shootout loss to San Jose, but the bottom's fallen out over the past two games. Getting whacked 6-1 by Daniel Alfredsson's former employer on W...

Wings' Mike Babcock on four-game skid: 'We're not organized. We're not efficient'

The Red Wings are going back to the basics and coach Mike Babcock is sharing the blame for the team's recent four-game winless streak, saying the struggles are due to lack of organization. The Red Wings open up a four-game western Canada trip Wednesday at Vancouver, then play the Flames Friday before moving on to Edmonton Saturday and Winnipeg Monday. "When I look at our...

Trial for Todd Bertuzzi attack on former Avalanche Steve Moore set for 2014

Last week, each time Detroit's Todd Bertuzzi touched the puck in the Red Wings' victory over the Avalanche at the Pepsi Center, the boos were noticeable. Although the Avalanche roster has had a nearly complete turnover since March 8, 2004, many of the Colorado fans still remember Bertuzzi's attack that night on Avalanche center Steve Moore in Vancouver, British Columbia...

Red Wings Monday practice post: Franzen out, Glendening to be recalled and lots of ‘gnus and gnotes’

The Red Wings took to the ice after a very disappointing weekend and very disappointing slate of 4 consecutive losses, with bad on-ice habits requiring work-it-out repair and the team's negative results requiring some 'splaining to do. Practice kicked off with bad news from the Macomb Daily's Chuck Pleiness: Johan Franzen missing at practice. Waiting on an update...

Red Wings prospect news: McCollum backstops back-to-back wins for Griffins; Mantha, Bertuzzi roll on

The Detroit Red Wings' prospects wrapped up a busy weekend in mostly winning fashion, and a Red Wings prospect who's essentially on "probationary" status via an AHL-only contract took two big steps foward over the past two days. The Grand Rapids Griffins lost a 5-0 home decision to the Charlotte Checkers on Friday night, and then they headed on the road for what...

Red Wings overnight report: laying the Wings’ faults plain ahead of an answer-searching week

The Red Wings have a significant amount of work to do when they return to practice today, and they've got some 'splaining to do, too. The Wings didn't anticipate facing "must-win" situations during what's going to be a particularly difficult Western Canadian Swing (the Wings play 4 games in 4 different cities over the course of 6 nights, starting with...

Red Wings prospect news: Grand Rapids Griffins defeat Wolves; Walleye win home opener

The Grand Rapids Griffins have had a pretty bumpy start to their season, but the Griffins may be starting to turn things around. The team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Chicago Wolves 3-2 at the Allstate Arena on Saturday night, bouncing back from a 5-0 loss to Charlotte on Friday. They'll continue their slate of 3 games in 3 nights (they lost to Charlotte on Friday...

Red Wings' Tomas Tatar to play on top-two line, looking to score some goals as team's 'sniper'

Tomas Tatar has waited patiently for the opportunity to play on one of the top two lines, which the confident young forward believes he deserves. His time has come. The Detroit Red Wings need more offense, and one of the changes they made Friday was placing Tatar among their top six forwards for Saturday’s game against the New York Rangers at Joe Louis Arena (7 p.m., Fox Sports...

Rangers-Red Wings Preview

The Detroit Red Wings have been strugging to find the back of the net over the last week. For the New York Rangers, it's been a season-long trend. The Red Wings will try to snap a three-game skid Saturday night when they host the Rangers, whose offense has been lifeless during a season-opening nine-game trip that concludes with this matchup. Thursday's 2-1 loss at Philadelphia...

Detroit Red Wings Look to End Scoring Slump Against Rangers

Matchup: New York Rangers vs Detroit Red Wings Venue: Joe Louis Arena; Detroit, MI Time: 7pm Eastern Broadcast: Detroit - FSD, New York - MSG, National - NHLN-US I don’t think anything needs to be said about the Red Wings’ (6-4-1, 13 pts, 3rd Atlantic Division) effort in Wednesday night’s matchup against the Ottawa Senators. Their skating was sluggish, their zone entry...

Chris Osgood held a chat on Fox Sports Detroit’s Twitter account…Here’s how it went

As the subject suggests, Fox Sports Detroit's Chris Osgood held a Twitter Q and A on Fox Sports Detroit's Twitter account during the second period of the Wings' 3-2 OT loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday. As some of you are not Twitter fans, I'm dedicating an entry to it instead of jamming it in the overnight report so that you may read it if you wish to do...

Red Wings-Rangers game-day updates: Wings hope to snap 3-game winless streak w/ Lidstrom visiting

The Detroit Red Wings hope to snap a 3-game winless streak when they face off against the New York Rangers this evening (7 PM, FSD/MSG/NHL Network U.S. with the usual Center Ice/GCL blackout/97.1 FM; tonight is Hockey Fights Cancer night at the Joe, and the Wings are holding a bone marrow registry this evening), and the Wings are all about purple and pink this evening: It...

Red Wings-Rangers quick take: Wings undone

Frustrating. Frustrating as hell. The Red Wings have lost four straight games now, having dropped consecutive games to Phoenix, San Jose, Ottawa and now a 3-2 overtime decision to the New York Rangers that was anything but fair to Jimmy Howard, who was absolutely sensational in the loss for the now 6-4-and-2 Wings. Something is bugging the Wings, just as something was bugging Todd...
