Tony Cingrani (3-0), filling in for the injured Johnny Cueto, pitched seven strong innings as Cincinnati extended its franchise-best winning streak at Wrigley Field to 11 games. Cingrani, from Chicago's South Suburbs, allowed two runs and four hits, while striking out five and allowing one walk.
Zack Cozart also added a three-run shot in the eighth and Todd Frazier hit a solo home run in the second inning for the Reds.
Garza (1-1) was tagged for a career-high nine runs and nine hits in five-plus innings. He was lifted in the sixth after allowing six runs without retiring a batter. Garza dropped to 0-2 against the Reds this season, allowing 13 runs in nine innings. The three homers he gave up were the most since last July 5 at Atlanta.

Joey Votto didn’t pop up on Monday. Of course he didn’t. It’s not because he didn’t play — he did play, and he batted four times. The first time, he grounded out. He’s human. The second time, he singled on a liner. He’s a talented human. The third time, he flew out. He’s still human. The fourth time, he walked. He’s human, but less so than us. I remember, back in...
Joey Votto and the Cincinnati Reds have fallen on hard times lately, though that certainly hasn't been the case at Wrigley Field.
The perennial All-Star looks to continue his tear at the Friendly Confines on Monday night when the Reds try to extend their franchise-best winning streak on the Chicago Cubs' home field.
Cincinnati (37-26) will try to get back on track after missing...
If you saw a video of an 8-year-old squatting 200 pounds, dead lifting about 175 pounds, and pulverizing a punching bag for a minute straight, your first thought probably wasn’t, “Wow, this kid is going to grow up and pitch in the MLB.”
If that was your first thought, then your crazy, but that’s exactly what this video is.
Here’s a short clip of Cincinnati Reds pitcher...

Once one of the hottest young prospects in the game, Chicago Cubs’ Starlin Castro has gone ice-cold through two and a half months of baseball. The career .290 hitter is now posting a .243 batting average, which isn’t even above the league average. His current wRC+ is a dismal 68, way off of his average of 100 per year.
Things have gotten so bad for...
Javier Baez had one of the best performances in Florida State League history on Monday, becoming just the second player to ever hit four home runs in a game in a league history. The first was Ryan Harvey of the Daytona Cubs in 2006.
In this minor league report, a run-down of the Cubs Top 13 prospects from the recent post-draft WSD rankings will be conducted instead of the normal...
During the offseason, the Chicago Cubs signed reliever Kyuji Fujikawa, who had saved 220 games in Japan since 2007, to a two-year, $9 million contract in hopes that he would help bolster the struggling bullpen. Now, they will have to wait until well into year two after the reliever went down for the season due to a torn UCL in his right elbow. NBC Sports.com's Drew Silvia reports...
I can list many reasons that I am upset with Phillies management in this putrid, lifeless, uninspiring 2013 season. But one thing I do not fault the Phillies for is their decision to non-tender outfielder Nate Schierholtz after the 2012 season. In today's Philadelphia Daily News, Phillies beat writer Ryan...
I can’t really say I am sad to see Henry Rodriguez traded from the Nationals. But I can’t say I’m happy either. It’s not everyday that you get a 100mph fire baller to walk through your doors. Henry Rodriguez just had one problem as a closer…he had no clue where that 100mph fastball was going to end up. It was a roller coaster ride every time he stepped onto the mound. What...

Starlin Castro doesn`t seem to fit the Cubs` new patient philosophy. But is that too simple an explanation?
The Cubs and White Sox combined cannot compete with the Blackhawks — or even the Derrick Rose-less Bulls. In other news, the Royals earned another strong rating in Kansas City, and the PGA Tour St. [...]
