Found May 06, 2013 on Redlegs Review:
We all know life as a major league baseball player has its times of ups and downs. Sure, the pay, the fame, and winters "off" are nice perks. But the grueling time away from home, constant scrutiny from the media, and the obvious pressures of performing well on the field, among other things, can be very trying, too. Well, one area Reds players have no reason to complain about is the food offered by the team while flying. On Sunday, Dallas Latos, wife of stud pitcher Mat Latos, tweeted out a picture of the in-flight menu as the team was traveling home from Chicago on their charter plane. Let's just say the spread has something to offer for even the pickiest of eaters. “@meganash3: @dallaslatos no pic of in-flight menu?!” Only for you. twitter.com/DallasLatos/st… — Dallas Latos(@DallasLatos) May 6, 2013 The menu is conveniently broken up into four sections. First, you have the "Pre-Departure Snacks" for the poor souls who cannot extinguish their h...

Video: Devin Mesoraco, Shin-Soo Choo smack back-to-back home runs to send Reds to walk-off win

Your browser does not support iframes. In case you went to bed early Tuesday night, and neglected to watch the Reds-Braves game until the final out, you missed one heck of a finish at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati essentially snatched victory from the jaws of defeat after overcoming a deficit against arguably the best closer in baseball in Craig Kimbrel. The Reds trailed...

In brief: knocking out Choo’s teeth and Phillips’ memory

Last game Yesterday the Reds completed a three-game sweep with a 7-4 win over the Cubs. You might think that doesn’t mean much, given the state the Cubs are in this year, but it certainly means better things than if they’d lost. All the games count the same when it comes time to pick a division winner. Mat Latos has been amazing so far this season, but yesterday was a little...

Reds' in-flight menu fit for a king

Us commoners are lucky to get a tiny bag of peanuts or a package containing three Lorna Doone cookies on a cross-country flight.  And compared to us laypeople, Major League Baseball players are kings when it comes to the grub options they have in their fancy schmancy planes. On Sunday, Dallas Latos (@DallasLatos), the wife of Reds starting pitcher Mat Latos, tweeted a picture of...

Video: More on honorary bat boy Ted Kremer and his inspiring story

Video: Inside Teddy Kremer's magical day One of the best baseball moments of the season was delivered to us by Reds honorary bat boy Ted Kremer, a lifelong fan who has Down syndrome, and third basemen Todd Frazier. On April 18, per the request of Ted, Frazier blasted a two-run homer in Cincinnati's route of the Marlins at Great American Ball Park. Frazier...

Latos' wife teases with menu pic

It's always been a safe bet that air travel is a more enjoyable experience for professional athletes than it is for the rest of us working stiffs, and on Sunday night, Dallas Latos, the wife of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mat Latos, confirmed it for the remaining doubters. Latos, riding on the Reds' charter flight home following the team's weekend sweep of the Chicago Cubs...

The win was the Reds took  second straight...

Keeping Up with Billy Hamilton

Billy Hamilton is one of the most intriguing prospects in baseball. In a game where home runs are king, Hamilton’s speed still excites the imagination in a Pete ‘Wheelie’ Wheeler way. Drafted in the second round in 2009, Hamilton stole our hearts. Then he stole 103 bases in 2011; and then a minor league record 155 last season. Yet his speed isn’t enough to keep him from...

Baker closing in on managerial milestone

CINCINNATI Dusty Baker learned a lesson a long time while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He learned it from a pretty good source. I was told a long time ago dont start looking at your accolades, said the Reds manager. Dont look until youre through. Baker got the advice from Sadaharu Oh, the man who has hit more home runs than any other professional player on the planet....

Lutz getting cheers from Cincinnati to Germany

CINCINNATI Donald Lutz arrived in the major leagues last Monday, but he really arrived nearly a week later, a windy Sunday afternoon in Wrigley Field where he was patrolling left field with about a dozen sea gulls. After going 0 for 6 after his call-up from Class AA Pensacola, Lutz banged his first major-league hit, drove in his first major-league run and stole his first major-league...

Reds Outfielder Takes Ball To The Face

The Cubs and Reds game wasn’t pretty on Sunday, and the below pretty much sums up the entire series so far.  Reds’ players Shin-Soo Choo and Brandon Phillips collided in the outfield as they both went after an Alfonso Soriano pop fly and Choo got the worst of it as the deflected ball hit him squarely in the face.  Two runs scored on the play top bring the Cubs just down 4...

Lutz's arrival a milestone for MLB

The former hockey player from Friedberg, Germany, sits in the visiting dugout at Wrigley Field and looks out onto one of the most famous lawns in America. Donald Lutz, his chin burrowed in a grey Cincinnati Reds hoodie to ward off the damp cold one recent afternoon, is asked what it means that he's here, steps away from where Babe Ruth called his shot. He laughs. "I think...

Struggling Medlin takes mound against Reds

Andrelton Simmons spent an unexpected day off making an adjustment to his swing. So far, it's working, and that's partly why the Atlanta Braves are trying to win a road series with the Cincinnati Reds for the first time in over four years Tuesday night. Simmons is known for his impressive fielding at shortstop -- he's yet to make an error in 126 chances this season -...
