DC area native Marcus Mason achieved his quest to make the roster of his hometown Washington Redskins today. Ryan O'Halloran just posted the Washington Redskins roster on www.washingtontimes.com, Redskins Roster is Set. Mason beat out Anthony Alridge and Dominique Dorsey for the last spot at running back. Mason will be fourth on the depth chart after Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright. Alridge was hampered through training camp by injury and flubbed his first quarter kick return in the Jacksonville Jaguars game. He ran well thereafter, but it was a hard impression to replace. The Redskins released Mason prior to last season for the same reason. Dorsey was seen as a special team prospect more than running back. No one is displacing Rock Cartwright as kick returner and Washington is experimenting with Devin Thomas as punt returner. Alridge or Dorsey could be invited to join the practice squad tomorrow if they clear waivers tonight. News emerged earlier today that quarterback hopeful Chase Daniel would be released and that Colt Brennan would be placed in Injured Reserve. Washington will carry two quarterbacks on the active roster, with Antwaan Randle El filling in at quarterback in a pinch, according to statements by Redskins vice president Vinny Cerrato. For the final roster, see O'halloran's story on The Times web site._________________________ Become a fan of Hog Heaven on Facebook. Click here. Follow me on Twitter @SkinsHogHeaven
