Redskins put Samuels on IR

Left tackle Chris Samuels was placed on injured reserve Saturday, ending his season. Samuels suffered a neck injury early in the Carolina game three weeks ago and said eight days ago that he would wait three to four months before deciding his future. He told teammates last week he is prepared to retire rather than risk paralysis. The Redskins have an open roster spot and must decide early in the coming week whether to sign an offensive lineman or a tight end.
