Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is set to
undergo total reconstruction surgery of his knee for complete tears of the ACL
and LCL, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN. Mortensen adds that the
projected recovery timeframe for such a procedure is six-to-eight months.
Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will undergo total reconstruction of knee for complete tear of ACL and LCL. Recovery projection: 6-8 mos.

When the Redskins announced that Griffin would require surgery,
they said that it was likely to repair partial tears of his ACL and LCL.
Washington added that the extent of their quarterback’s injuries wouldn’t be
known until the procedure was complete.
However, Mortensen is reporting that Griffin has sustained
complete tears of his ACL and LCL, meaning he’ll be out six-to-eight months
after going under the knife. This would put him returning in a best-case
scenario by July; worst-case would have him sidelined until September.
It doesn’t look like the Redskins will be trading away
backup Kirk Cousins anytime soon.
