Before I get to the alleged incident, why is a guy taking a photo of another man coming out of the club? This whole thing could have been avoided if men stop acting like male groupies when they see an athlete. Damian Lillard is very good player, great rookie season, but why would a man need to have a pic him in his cell phone? Here is what the brothers had to say. “So I took a picture. And so Damian Lillard was upset that I took his picture, so when he turned around he’s like, “Did you just take my picture?!” said the brother. “And his entourage just turned around too and they’re like ‘did you just take a picture of Damian Lillard?’ And I was like –and I said ‘Yeah, I did.’ And so I saw that he was clearly upset, they were upset and I was like, ‘Can I apologize to him? Like I’ll go up right now and apologize to him,’” the brother said. Within minutes, he says the discussion became an all-out fight which did not involve Lillard but did involve others that the brothers believe were part of Lillard’s group. When the second brother stepped in to help his brother, he says he was punched and kicked repeatedly, enough to break his nose and require stitches in his lip. “Damian Lillard basically instigated it because he actually looked like he was going to go up to my brother and start fighting him. And since he did that, the rest of the guys started getting riled up too and like they thought it was okay to just start fighting out of nowhere,” said the second brother. Lillard was smart enough not to throw any punches himself and isn’t considered a suspect by the Portland Police. As far as the brothers’ story, it is plausible, so one thing Lillard needs to understand, is the bigger the entourage, the more likely these things might happen. It is never the yes men than are in the headlines of the story, it will always be Lillard and his entourage, even if he just met them at the club five minutes. Part of being a star is understanding to keep your circle tight, to avoid this type of bad press.
