Dwight Howard's time with the Los Angeles Lakers seems limited.  He was expected to come over this season and eventually sign a long-term extension.  Now, it's not certain he would sign one, and it's not certain the Lakers would want him to.  And apparently, the Lakers have even tried trading him.According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, the Lakers tried to pull off a trade that would have sent Howard to the Boston Celtics in exchange for the injured Rajon Rondo.  Broussard makes sure to point out the Lakers have denied this rumor. The deal doesn't make much sense in the fact that the Lakers have a point guard in Steve Nash, and Rondo is going to miss the rest of the 2012-13 season.  The Lakers may need to make some changes, but making a deal like this proposed trade just doesn't make sense.Howard has been battling his way back from back surgery this season, but to add to the problems, he also has a torn labrum in his shoulder.  Rondo tore his ACL a little over a week ago.  He is expected to be ready to go by the start of training camp next year.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://www.nbainjurynews.com//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs"); var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-34100676-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? Dwight Howard assured he won't be traded

The traveling circus known as the Lakers hit All-Star weekend. Center Dwight Howard was hit with a barrage of questions about his future. "(The Lakers) told me they weren't going to trade me," Howard said. "That's what (General Manager) Mitch (Kupchak) said." Howard was acquired by the Lakers in the off-season from the Orlando Magic. He'll be a free...

Lakers-Celtics discuss Dwight Howard for Rajon Rondo swap

The Dwight Howard era in Los Angeles hasn't exactly started off as expected. There's been nothing but drama, infighting, rumors and a lot of losing too. There's been speculation that the Lakers could try to move Howard, with all of the aforementioned things seemingly likely to keep him from signing an extension with the storied Los Angeles franchise. Those have been...

Report: Celtics and Lakers are talking Rondo for Howard swap

Ken Berger of CBS Sports has this blockbuster report: However, CBSSports.com has learned that the Lakers have engaged in preliminary trade discussions with an unlikely trade partner regarding Howard: their fierce rival, the Boston Celtics. The centerpieces of the possible deal, which hasn’t gained any traction, would be Howard and Rajon Rondo. The imagination runs rampant with...

Video: Recapping the Celtics' pre-All-Star game run without Rajon Rondo

As the trade deadline looms, the Celtics' future is uncertain. In the wake of Rajon Rondo's ACL tear and the announcement that he would be done for the season, many presumed that the Celtics were done for the season. Many said the team should blow it up and start to rebuild. Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was not among those doubters. Rivers said to the media in a...

Paul Pierce is the new Rajon Rondo, and in the best way possible

Before Rajon Rondo was lost for the season he was dominating the NBA in triple doubles, with 5 (no other Celtic had any).  Since Rondo's been gone Paul Pierce has taken over that role by recording 2 triple doubles of his own (the only player in the NBA with more than one in that time span), which puts him tied for second in the league on the season behind Rondo.   Over the...

Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard Trade More Than Far-Fetched, But Fun to Think About

OK, Internet. This is your time. Less than one full week remains before the NBA trade deadline, and now is the time when all semblance of sanity flies out of the window. So-called “anonymous sources” are about to work overtime. Even by the usual crazy standards of trade deadline season, though, Friday’s report that the Celtics and Lakers had engaged in preliminary talks for...

Report: Rondo for Howard discussed

The Celtics are conducting “preliminary talks” with the Los Angeles Lakers about swapping Rajon Rondo for Dwight Howard, according to CBSSports.com’s Ken Berger. While Berger points out that the deal “hasn’t gained any traction,” it seems like, at the very least, the Lakers and Celtics are talking about the possibility of trading two of their biggest stars.

Report: Dwight Howard Telling Opposing Players He Will Be in Brooklyn Next Year

The Lakers might want to start taking some of these “rumors” seriously. You may not agree with Stephen A. Smith on 1st Take, but he isn’t prone to just making up stuff he doesn’t believe in true. No Guts, No Glory tracked down this audio from Stephen A. saying that Dwight Howard told Rudy Gay he is going to be in Brooklyn next year. Here is the exact quote from Stephen A...

Rondo wants a speedy recovery?

Rajon Rondo underwent successful surgery to repair his "torn" ACL this past Tuesday, and there is already talk about him making a quick return. Doc Rivers spoke with the media about Rondo, and joked that he could possibly make a quick return like NFL player Adrian Peterson. Rondo chose to have his knee operated on by the same surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, that worked on Peterson...

Lakers GM denies Dwight-for-Rondo trade rumor

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly engaged in preliminary trade discussions with the Boston Celtics in regard of players Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo, which Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak denied. Ken Berger first reported

Wave of Celtics Injuries Affecting Ticket Prices

As of late, the injury gods have not been kind to the Celtics. First Rajon Rondo is gone for the season with a torn ACL along with Jared Sullinger who has a bad back and needs surgery. Now, less than a month later it’s Leandro Barbosa, also with a torn ACL, and Paul Pierce with a pinched nerve. Luckily, these injuries have not seemed to heavily impact the success of the team so...

Report: Celtics Sign Former Lottery Pick, Louisville Star Terrence Williams

Terrence Williams, a former lottery pick and standout player at Louisville, is back in the NBA. Multiple reports stated Monday that the Celtics signed Williams to add depth to their bench, which has been decimated by injuries. Williams gives the Celtics 11 healthy players, rounding out a roster that was in a precarious position after the season-ending injuries to Rajon Rondo, Jared...

Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce Turning Back the Clock to Keep Celtics Contending Without Rajon Rondo

Kevin Garnett didn’t exactly make the dramatic All-Star game exit many Celtics fans had been hoping for when he cryptically leaked last week that this would be his last appearance in the event. He did take the floor as the starting center for the Eastern Conference, however, fulfilling his due diligence in the lineup and saluting the fans. The big man does, after all, have a surging...
