After losing Kevin Martin to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Thunder have become thin at the shooting guard position. But now Oklahoma City has becoming the front-runner to sign former Miami Heat guard Mike Miller, according to Yahoo! Sports. Miller was waived by the Heat earlier this week, via the amnesty clause and no team under the salary cap placed a bid on him so Miller became a free agent. Miller will be entering his 13th NBA season and is 33 years old. He has had a number of injuries throughout his career and back problems forced him out of games two years ago. He averaged 4.8 points in 59 games played this season for the Heat and shot 41 percent from the 3-point line. Miller has played for Orlando, Memphis, Minnesota, Washington and at Miami, where he has been part of the past two NBA championships. Perhaps Miller's finest moment came in the Finals against the Thunder in 2012 when he was seven-of-eight on 3-pointers in a Game 5 victory that clinched the title. Miller finished the game with 23 points. He had 24 points combined in the previous nine playoff games leading up to his Game 5 performance. If Miller signs with OKC it will mean the Thunder have 12 roster spots filled, leaving a maximum of three spots left. The Thunder have team options available on center Daniel Orton, guard DeAndre Liggins and center Hasheem Thabeet. Also second-round pickGrant Jarrett has not been signed.
