After winning the World Series, the San Francisco Giants' top offseason priorities were retaining free agents Jeremy Affeldt, Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro. Mission accomplished. Scutaro became the third member of the trio to re-sign with the Giants, agreeing Tuesday night to a three-year, $20 million contract, according to multiple media reports. After arriving from the Colorado Rockies in a late-July trade for a minor-leaguer, Scutaro became a key member of the Giants down the stretch and in the postseason. He was selected the MVP of the National League Championship Series, during which he hit .500 (14-for-28) with four RBI. He wound up batting .328 (21-for-64) with eight RBI in 16 postseason games. Scutaro, 37, took over as the Giants' second baseman two weeks after the trade, and he batted .362 with three homers and 44 RBI in 61 regular-season games for San Francisco. He hit .271 with four homers and 30 RBI in 95 games for Colorado this year. A veteran of six teams in 11 major league seasons, Scutaro has a career .276 average with a .340 on-base percentage, a .391 slugging percentage, 75 homers and 478 RBI. Pagan and the Giants agreed to a four-year, $40 million deal Monday at the start of the winter meetings. The center fielder was a spark plug for the team from the leadoff position. Affeldt landed a three-year, $18 million deal on Nov. 14. The left-handed reliever was part of a strong bullpen that shined in the postseason.
