Fox Sports:
David Reutimann has signed to drive for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2012.
"Tommy's done a lot with a little over there and he's definitely a racer, so that's a good fit," Reutimann said. "With Tommy you never have to (wonder) what he's thinking. He's up front and that's exactly what I need right now.
"He's really put together a nice package over there. It's awesome. Both our dads raced and Tommy has such an enthusiasm for the sport and that's refreshing."
Reutimann, 41, was released from Michael Waltrip Racing at the end of last year following five seasons in which the veteran scored the only two Cup wins for the organization.
"We've been working real hard since the end of the year to get our equipment right," team owner Tommy Baldwin said. "Last year's goal was to get in the top 35. This year we're concentrating on competition. Given David's experience, we thought it was best to bring him along to help us reach that next goal."
Baldwin has yet to determine the number of races Reutimann will drive or the car number. Baldwin remains committed to current driver Dave Blaney, who joined the team in 2010. Blaney delivered TBR's first top-five finish when he finished third at Talladega Superspeedway in October.
The organization is seeking additional sponsorship for the full season.
"We are still working on finding funding for next year, but having a car guaranteed in the first five races, including the Daytona 500, is a big step for our team," Baldwin continued. "We had success last year with our partners. Although Golden Corral will not return in 2012, they were very happy with the exposure they received. We hope they have shown other companies the value of our program and that our program will once again align with their business objectives."
Tommy Baldwin Racing has also signed an agreement to run Earnhardt Childress Racing engines for the 2012 season.
