Rex Ryan won his first game as head coach for the New York Jets. Ryan's impact on the Jets became very obvious after the 24-7 rout of the Houston Texans. In his first season as head coach of the New York Jets, Rex Ryan has his players believing in the system. The Houston Texans, a team that most football experts picked as a surprise team of the year were clearly over matched. Looking ahead: The Jets are 1-0 after defeating the Texans and head home to play the New England Patriots. I didn't think this would be a "matchup of the week" caliber game but after the Jets Week 1 rout of the Texans and Rex Ryan's comments about the Patriots this game is going to be a must watch. In case you missed it: Rex Ryan was auditioning for Belichick's bulletin board (great blog name btw..) with comments towards the Patriots and Belichick. I'll give you a recap of some of his better comments. "I didn't come here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings" "I'm not going to concede anything, Do I recognize the fact that Belichick is a heck of a coach? Absolutely. My thing is, I'm not intimidated by him or anyone else in this business. Period. I don't care who it is. Our football team certainly isn't going to be intimidated either. If there are some issues with that, so be it." "How much motivation are they going to get by putting a quote from me on the wall saying that I believe in my football team. That I'm not going to be intimidated by a coach or anyone else. If that's where you're going to draw motivation from, hell, we'll probably kick your ass. I mean if that's the case." Belichick take these quotes from Beantown Beatdown, and post them on your bulletin board. I love a guy with confidence like Rex Ryan, that's how he gets his team to believe in him and his strategy. If he goes out on the podium and says "wow, Bill has a ton of rings, he's great I love him" he'll get it handed to him on Sunday. I like Ryan's approach here, I think it just MIGHT work.
