Jose Reyes says he hasn't heard from new teammate Hanley Ramirez since signing a $106 million, six-year deal last week with the Miami Marlins. There has been no phone call, text message or Christmas card from his pal and fellow Dominican. Meanwhile, speculation persists that Ramirez is unhappy about being supplanted at shortstop. Reyes said it won't be a problem, because he and Ramirez both want to win. With Reyes at shortstop and Ramirez at third, the Marlins become stronger defensively at both positions, and more potent offensively. Reyes hit .337 with the New York Mets this year to win the NL batting title, and Ramirez - a career .306 hitter - was the 2009 batting champ.

Jose Reyes Goes Up In Flames…

Here’s one Mets fan who found a very unorthodox way to vent his anger over how the Jose Reyes situation played out: Well that’s one way to get over your Reyes to the Marlins doldrums… Honestly, there’s no need to blame Reyes here just as much as there was no reason for Astros fans to blame Carlos Beltran for signing with the Mets in 2005. That’s just the business of...

Red Sox inquire about Hanley Ramirez

Olney: Red Sox and Marlins had dialogue about Hanley Ramirez

As expected, Cherington and company looked into Hanley Ramirez. "No traction" in an interesting way to refer to it -- but regardless of semantics, the Marlins don't appear to be interested in what we have to offer. Aaron wrote on Monday that a deal would likely hinge on a package involving Clay Buchholz and/or Kevin Youkilis, and I'd say prospects would probably...

2012 Uniform Changes: Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins had one of the most dramatic change in uniforms this season. The uniform change comes with a new stadium, a new team (hello Jose Reyes) and a new team name, the Miami Marlins, formerly known as the Florida Marlins. One of the key aspects of the makeover is the change of the color scheme from green and a little bit of black to orange and little bit of black. The...

Carl Pavano, Hanley Ramirez Headline Former Red Sox Farmhands Who Could Help 2012 Squad

The Red Sox are usually big players in free agency and on the trade market. But they're also very solid at developing young talent. In fact, their ability to draft and develop players is a big reason they're able to be so active when it comes to wheeling and dealing. And while many of the Red Sox' trades have paid off over the years, there's still some former farmhands...

The Angles Reemerge as the Class of the American League

For a while it was Miami’s summer. Getting free agents Jose Reyes and consistent left handed starter Mark Buerhle to sign, and rumors of Albert Pujols being interested in joining them, the Miami Marlins looked poised to win the offseason. But in a span of 24 hours the Angels outdid the Marlins; and put themselves as the frontrunner to represent the American League in the World...

Miami Marlins Add Bargain Basement Buys to Big Shopping List

The biggest splash this MLB Hot Stove season has no doubt been made by the fish. The Marlins spent big bucks on Jose Reyes, Ozzie Guillen and Mark Buerhle. They’ve done some thrift store shopping now to complement the “backing up the truck.”  From Bob Wirz, Indy Baseball Chatter: The Miami Marlins are not limiting their signings to those expensive major league free agents...

Jimmy Rollins secures place in Phillies history, future

As it turns out, there is only one Jose Reyes, who signed a $22 per year, six year deal with the Florida Marlins. Reyes, 28, also won the batting title, hitting .337 in his last year with the Mets. Rafael Furcal, 34, signed for $6.5 per year for two years with the Cardinals. Alex Gonzalez, 34, signed for $4 million per year with the Brewers. Which didn’t leave as big of a market...

Marlins & Red Sox Have Discussed Hanley Ramirez

The Red Sox are among the teams that have had cursory trade dialogue with the Marlins about Hanley Ramirez, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney (on Twitter). However, the talks have no traction. The Marlins don't intend to trade Ramirez, even after signing shortstop Jose Reyes. However, Olney reported Sunday that at least four teams have talked to the Marlins about...
