Qualifying at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is complete. The Richard Petty Motorsports teams will line up for the start of the 500-mile event as follows: 17th— Aric Almirola, No. 43 Smithfield Ford Fusion 18th— Marcos Ambrose, No. 9 Stanley Ford Fusion Forty-seven cars took to the 1.5-mile oval for qualifying today.  Greg Biffle, in a Ford, topped the speed chart with a lap of 193.708 miles per hour and will start on the pole Saturday at Charlotte. The 334-lap NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event begins Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ABC, PRN Radio and SIRIUS/XM NASCAR Radio. Ambrose’s Thoughts on Qualifying at Charlotte: “ We had hoped to do better tonight, but we just got really loose on that qualifying lap. We had a pretty good car in practice and made some changes throughout to keep up with the track conditions. We were loose in practice and that carried over to qualifying. We’ve got two practice sessions tomorrow, so we’ll have time to work on making some adjustments to the Stanley Ford.  I’m confident my team will get if figured out before we get on the track for Saturday night’s race.” Almirola’s Thoughts on Qualifying at Charlotte: “We had a lot of high hopes coming in here, having won the pole here earlier this year.  Todd (Parrott) brought me a really good car; it was fast right off the truck.  We made some adjustments, and it just seemed like the track kept changing in practice and we couldn’t keep up with it.  We were just too loose.  And on our qualifying run we were still a little bit too loose.  But we made a lot of gains on it.  Our car was a lot better.  I’m really proud of the guys on the Smithfield Ford.  I think it’ll race really good.”
