Less than 24-hours after falling to Notre Dame in a Big East record five overtimes, Rick Pitino traveled to Miami, FL., for the Lakers and Heat game at American Airlines Arena. Dave McMenamin, the Lakers beat writer for ESPNLA.com, reported that Pitino was in the Lakers locker room following the game. Former Louisville forward Earl Clark is in his first season with the Lakers. He posted this photo on his Instagram account after the game. The Lakers lost 107-97, but Clark finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds. I’m sure Pitino and Earl did plenty of catching up, but McMenamin reports that the real reason Pitino was in South Beach was to see Laker point guard Steve Nash. I’m not exactly sure what the connection is between Pitino and Nash, but this isn’t the first time the two have spoken during a college basketball season. A few years ago, Pitino had Nash call and speak with former Louisville point guard Edgar Sosa to give him some advice. Perhaps Pitino wanted to ask the future hall...

Rick Pitino’s Recruiting Trip Didn’t Exactly Go As Planned

Rick Pitino was set to travel to Evansville, IN., tonight to see Jaquan Lyle, a 6-foot-5 190-pound combo guard from Bosse High School. Lyle has been one of Louisville’s top targets in the 2014 class for over a year. He has taken multiple unofficial visits to Louisville and has the Cards in his most recently updated list along with Illinois, Indiana, Texas, Georgetown, NC State...

Steve Nash seems frustrated with Dwight Howard and his lack of production

Steve Nash played through a number of frustrating seasons with the Phoenix Suns, but he rarely ever said much about it. Nash has always been one of the more quiet players in the league, so when he says something that can be construed as a complaint about a teammate it’s fairly notable. Nash and Dwight Howard, the Los Angeles Lakers’ two biggest offseason acquisitions, have not...

Steve Nash Also Frustrated With Dwight Howard

When Steve Nash is yelling at you then you know the problem is probably you, not whoever else you are blaming. Steve Nash one of the most unselfish players in the NBA, so if he is also complaining about Dwight’s lack of effort that is a serious problem. I thought it was an isolated incident what happened in the Heat game when Dwight didn’t do much to help Nash when he was being...

In State Guard Receiving Interest From Louisville

Louisville’s 2013 recruiting class was thought to be complete after signing four players in September, but that hasn’t stopped Rick Pitino from continuing to evaluate the available talent in the class. Dominique Hawkins, a 6-foot point guard from Madison Central High School in Richmond, KY, is a name to keep an eye on. According to Steve Moss of WKYT, Rick Pitino is one of them...

A Bried And Obvious Point About College Basketball

Rick Pitino lost, so, um, yay As I wrote this, the people I follow online (well, on Twitter anyway, and feel free to join me there at #dmtshooter) were going batspit for the 5-overtime Notre Dame vs. Louisville battle, to the point where I tuned in. And, well, I get it: the players give maximum effort and the crowds mark out for it like nobody's business. Since the refs put...

In the eyes of Steve Nash, Dwight Howard is the center of the problem with the Lakers

In a very interesting take by Lakers beat writer Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register, the problem that continues to plague the Los Angeles Lakers is Dwight Howard.  During [...]

Video: Steve Nash yelling at Dwight Howard

Tweet The Los Angeles Lakers suffered yet another loss on the road to the Miami Heat Sunday during a game they were competitive in for three quarters before things fell apart in the fourth. During a third quarter possession with the Lakers up, Steve Nash was trapped along the baseline and Dwight Howard standing in the paint, [...]

Kobe: 'I didn't say anything wrong'

Lakers star Kobe Bryant defended his comments that some interpreted as critical about teammate Dwight Howard, saying it's all a "manufactured conflict."

Dwight responds to fathers comments

As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare to play the Miami Heat on Sunday, Dwight Howard was asked to respond to comments his father made about his situation with the Lakers.

Laker Nation is giving you another round up of our favorite Tweets of the Week! Check out what people had to say about another rollercoaster of a ride for the Los Angeles Lakers. Louisville relents after five grueling overtimes

Finally over. Sixty five minutes of frustration, underscoring the incredible luck of the Irish, extending through five overtimes, with Notre Dame finally prevailing 104-101 in five overtimes. ESPN was quick to designate the game as a classic but University of Louisville basketball fans won’t want to be reminded of the ordeal. If they don’t blank it out of their memory banks altogether...

Preview: Lakers vs. Suns

The Lakers (24-28) return home after finishing a 4-3 effort in their longest road trip of the season. That road trip started in a shocking 92-86 loss to the Phoenix Suns (17-35), a team that was and still at the bottom of the Western Conference. Needless to say, the purple and gold are looking for some payback tonight. The last 10 days away from Los Angeles didn't go through...

Top to Bottom: Best, and Worst, Lakers Performances of the Week

The Lakers finish the week with a record of 2-2. There was an impressive win over the Brooklyn Nets and a great 20 point comeback against the Charlotte Bobcats, but along with that came an old fashioned beat-down by the Boston Celtics and a fourth quarter meltdown that resulted in a loss to the Miami Heat. Here are this week’s top 3 and bottom 3 performers. TOP Photo: EMMANUEL...

Should the Lakers Trade Dwight Howard?

The Los Angeles Lakers’ season has been a failure to this point. After acquiring Steve Nash and Dwight Howard during the summer, the Lakers were slated by many to face off against the defending NBA champion Miami Heat. That has clearly not happened. The Lakers are still unsure if Dwight Howard will re-sign after the [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for...
