The Italian’s position at the club is uncertain at the moment with his side off the pace in the Premier League. They are 12 points adrift of league leaders Manchester United while FA Cup remains their only realistic chance of winning something this season.
However, with chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain, the former Barcelona pair has yet to show any public backing to their manager, a trophyless season might cost him the job at the Etihad.
His uncertain position is made further precarious, when defender Kolo Toure suggested City must win some silverware to safeguard their manager’s position at the club. He was quoted in the press:
