EVIDENTLY, Ron Jaworski isn't impressed by Matt Flynn's arm strength. This is hardly news as it was repeated quite a bit, even prior to Flynn becoming a 7th round Draft pick. BUT, Reggie wants to get another look at his vanity pick/vanity trade before signing off on him. It's still early, so what the hell. Go for it. Personally, I think the guy  to develop and start is Terrelle Pryor, and I'm on record as saying that.

While naming Flynn the starter was complete BS (I'm on record with that too), I'm glad a starter was named. It tells Pryor and Tyler Wilson what they're chasing and helps to define WHY they're chasing it. What I mean is, if the staff likes Flynn's accuracy, or leadership, or command of the offense, then Pryor and Wilson know what they're up against, and what they must not only meet, but be better than. It tells them where they stand and why.

If Flynn doesn't hold onto the starting job, my hope is that it's not solely over arm strength. The Philadelphia Eagles went 10-6 in 1995 behind Rodney Peete, (a QB not exactly said to possess a cannon). The trick was that the Eagles put the job of carrying the Offense mostly on RB Ricky Watters. (In 1995 Peete threw 375 passes, 62 to Watters. Minus those attempts, that's 313 attempts by Peete. That same year Watters carried the ball 337 times). This year we're looking do the same with RunDMC. From everything I've ever read about Flynn, he has enough tools to be part of a winning team, but he's just not a superstar. Then again, how many 7th rounders turn out to be?

If Flynn does hold down the job, I agree with ESPN reporter Bill Williamson when he said "I do think the Raiders can get by with him for the short term and since he wasn’t overly expensive, it’s not a terribly risky venture." Today every QB on our roster is "under construction", so there are bound to be things that people question about each of them. As fans we just have to have patience.
