Michael Phelps, that guy who won eight gold medals for the USA back in the 2008 Olympics, didn’t even place in his first shot at this year’s London Olympics. In the 400m Individual Medley, Phelps disappointed us all and finished in 4th place. He was in second place at the halfway point, but just couldn’t maintain his place.
However, the US’ rising Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte finished in first place and received a gold medal. Lochte had a chance to beat Phelps’ world record in the event, but only fell a second or two short.
If you missed the event, you can watch it later tonight. Yes, NBC made the dumb decision to save the event for its prime time ratings instead of airing it live.

Phelps needed Lochte to push him
Down went Frazier, and so began a legend.
Regardless of whether Muhammad Ali is a shell of his former self in Friday's opening ceremony, he always will be, in my mind, as he was that day in Manila with Joe Frazier: vicious and ruthless and somehow greater than he had ever been.
He and Frazier became immortal in that ring, their names forever intertwined as a result and their...
