Hyun-Jin Ryu dominated the Miami Marlins for nearly seven innings in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 7-1 win on Saturday.   It was Kevin Slowey’s worst start as a Marlin that coupled with Ryu’s effort led to the blowout loss.   Miami is now 11-26 on the year and they continue to struggle with runners in scoring position going 0-4 in those situations in this game. Slowey allowed five runs on eleven hits in only four and two third innings.  The right-hander also walked three while striking out none showing a lack of control throughout the effort that dropped him to 1-3 on the season.   Jon Rauch worked the next one and a third innings allowing only one hit and no runs but the damage was already done.   On the year, the Marlins have not given Slowey much run support outside of one start although that wasn’t the only issue in this game.   Despite the lackluster effort, Slowey has an exceptional 2.55 E.R.A this year and will look to turn things back around in his next start against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Miguel Olivo contributed the only run for Miami with his third home run of the year which came in the seventh inning.  Olivo is nearing a release deadline on his original contract but is now expected to remain on the team to serve as a first baseman and third catcher after Jeff Mathis returns on Tuesday.    Miami had five hits in the game including the blast and the fifth double of the year from Placido Polanco.  The third baseman had a two hit game to lift his average to .250 this season. Miami will look to win the series on Sunday with Tom Koehler scheduled to make his first start of the year after replacing Wade LeBlanc in the starting rotation.
