Safety Charles Woodson saw fans crowding around to cheer him on and he felt the love, he also felt scared. Woodson wondered what would happen if he left Oakland without a deal, with so many people wanting him to come back to the Raiders, he thought it might be a bad idea not to sign. However, that wasn’t the reason why Woodson agreed to play for the Raiders, he felt the new GM had firm control on what he wanted to do and a plan to do it. He’s knows general manager Reggie McKenzie from their days in Green Bay, and he knew the new GM learned how to run an organization from one of the best GM’s in football, Packers’ Ted Thompson. “It was overwhelming,” he said, to see 120 or so fans waiting at the security gate when his car pulled up. “I think that if at any time I’d ever forgotten what the love was like in Oakland, I was definitely reminded yesterday,” Woodson said, via Vic Tafur of SFGate.com. “I think I was actually scared of leaving the facility and not having a deal done,” Woodson said. “I don’t know if I would have made it out of there. But that was a big deal, and receiving that kind of welcome, it definitely put me in a mindset that it would be a good decision to make it happen.” On new GM Reggie McKenzie: “I think having Reggie in there, and having somebody that’s really in that decision-making role other than Mr. Al Davis is definitely a different vibe,” Woodson said. “It seems like there’s more of a control factor as far as what they want to do and what they want to implement as far as their team is concerned. I think it’s a good vibe in there.”
