I think with all of the news about the New Orleans Saints, many reporters and fans are forgetting one fantastic signing: a great tight-end known as Benjamin Watson. Not only has this player had a fantastic career, he comes to New Orleans at a great time for a playoff run. At the beginning of the year, ESPN and NFL analysts were comparing the New Orleans tight-end duo with Graham and Watson to Gronkowski and Hernandez. Now? The New Orleans duo stands superior. With Hernandez in the can and Gronkowski on the gurney, New Orleans has the opportunity to have the best tight-end duo in the NFL. Speaking of New England, Watson spent the 2004-2009 seasons with Belichick’s cut-off sweatshirt. That means he’s been instilled with the best experience and coaching before joining the New Orleans Saints. For his career Watson averages 11.8 yards per catch, has 28 touchdowns, and 321 total catches. In Graham’s three seasons with New Orleans, the numbers are pretty similar. Graham averages 12.3 yards per catch, 25 touchdowns, and 215 total catches. Good luck, opposing defenses. There needs to be more talk about Watson, and what he can provide the New Orleans Saints and the face of the franchise, Drew Brees. Not only is Ben Watson a threat downfield, he is also a great protector for the quarterback. When Watson goes downfield with Graham, it will be nearly impossible to stop Brees from getting an easy completion. Watson should be recognized for more than just the tight-end from Cleveland, and I think he and Jimmy Graham will have a record-breaking season in New Orleans.
