TEAMS: San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints
The San Francisco 49ers will play the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Superdome. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. EST start time and can be seen in many markets as the late game on FOX.
New Orleans was given up for dead when the season started, now they are one of the most dangerous teams in the league. The 49ers will start Colin Kaepernick at quarterback as they apparently liked what he was able to do against the Chicago Bears while Alex Smith was out with a concussion.
So what is the line for the 49ers and Saints game? This one is a toss up but the 49ers opened as a 2.5 point favorite. The over/under for the game is set at 50.
While the Saints have one of the most potent offenses in the NFL (28.7 ppg) they have shown signs of improvement on defense as they have given up just 19 points per game in their last three contests.
The 49ers remain one of football’s best defenses allowing a mere 13.4 points per game. Last week they scored 32 points in a blowout of the Chicago Bea...

Vernon Davis: 'Alex is still our guy'
Even though Colin Kaepernick led the 49ers to a win over the Saints, tight end Vernon Davis nevertheless voiced his support for benched starter Alex Smith.
Smith active for 49ers, but Kaepernick starts
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, sidelined since Nov. 11 with a concussion, was cleared to play today against the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome, but Colin Kaepernick is the starter. It will be the second start for Kaepernick, the second-year player out of Nevada, who helped demolish the Chicago Bears Monday night, 32-7. Smith is the only other active quarterback...
Niners sting Saints with convincing 31-21 win
With Colin Kaepernick again effectively leading the offense and a defense that got downright offensive on its own, the 49ers were simply too much for a hot New Orleans team on Sunday afternoon, taking control after halftime on the way to a convincing 31-21 victory over the Saints at the Superdome.

Vernon Davis wants Alex Smith to start
San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has yet to commit to either Colin Kaepernick or Alex Smith as the team's starting quarterback. Tight end Vernon Davis thinks Alex Smith should be the one under center.
"It's difficult, but I think Alex is still the man," Davis said after Kaepernick led the 49ers to a 31-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints. "In my...
49ers use Kaepernick, defense to top Saints 31-21
Dashon Goldson turned Marques Colston upside down just as the receiver leaped for a pass over the middle.
As Colston landed on his head and lay motionless for several seconds, safety Donte Whitner snagged the deflected pass on New Orleans 42 and weaved his way past Drew Brees and Co., all the way to the end zone.
That was but one of the big plays turned in by a San Francisco defense...
Straight Outta Stockton - Week 12
This week's Straight Outta Stockton could easily be renamed Straight Outta Aikman as the lead NFL on Fox analyst had a rough time during yesterday's Saints-49ers game. While a few of those are noted below, I have to pay tribute to the work Aikman is doing to the English language. Multiple times during Sunday's telecast, Aikman said "I don't disagree"...

Brodrick Bunkley kicks Alex Boone in head
In what surely will result in a hefty fine from the league, Saints DT Brodrick Bunkley did his best Ndamukong Suh impersonation by kicking 49ers OL Alex Boone in the head. He was promptly ejected from game. Via Doug Farrar of Yahoo Sports:With 1:13 left in San Francisco's eventual 31-21 win, the 49ers were set up to kick a 33-yard field goal, but the attempt was blocked by...
Alex Smith, Brandon Jacobs Active For 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers' list of inactive players Sunday features two notable absences.
Quarterback Alex Smith is active for the first time since suffering a concussion against St. Louis in Week 10. Running back Brandon Jacobs, a non-factor for the 49ers to this point in the season, is also active.
The 49ers have not announced whether Smith or second-year quarterback Colin...
Report: Alex Smith could be done in San Francisco
According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, this could be quarterback Alex Smith’s final season with the San Francisco 49ers if he doesn’t regain his starting spot now that Colin Kaepernick has taken over as Niners’ lead signal-caller.
The 49ers didn’t draft Kaepernick in the 4th round of the 2011 draft to sit and watch. It’s obvious that he’s ready to take over as their...
It Appears Kapernick is the Answer for the 49ers
As you probably know by now, I'm a huge fan of the San Francisco 49ers and have been ever since I can remember. So can imagine how great I feel to see the 'Niners do well. Before last season, I haven't been able to say that for a while, since the 49ers didn't make the playoffs every year since the '02-'03 season. To be honest, I didn't expect the team...

After another big win, 49ers QBs still in limbo
Jim Harbaugh has watched each of his two quarterbacks lead the San Francisco 49ers to big wins in hostile, road environments - Alex Smith in the season opener at Green Bay's Lambeau Field back in September, and Colin Kaepernick on Sunday at the New Orleans Superdome.
Which one gets the ball on Sunday at St. Louis? Harbaugh is still mum on that, though he did say Monday he will...
49ers QB Alex Smith Only Player Listed As Questionable For Week 12
Quarterback Alex Smith is the only San Francisco 49ers player listed as questionable on Friday's injury for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints as the Niners' starter is still hampered by a concussion.
