PLAYERS: Bud Selig
A part two to the sewage leakage story which plagued the Oakland A’s earlier in the week. Now things have taken an even more serious turn, with the A’s wanting completely out of Oakland and their old stadium and off to San Jose. The San Jose City Counsel voted Tuesday to file an anti-trust suit against Major League Baseball and Bud Selig. Stating the following, via Deadspin : “This action arises from the blatant conspiracy by Major League Baseball to prevent the Athletics Baseball Club from moving to San Jose,” according to the suit. “This action challenges – and seeks to remedy – Defendants’ violation of state laws and use of the illegal cartel that results from these agreements to eliminate competition in the playing of games in the San Francisco Bay Area.” The A’s have been eyeing San Jose for quite sometime and have even got a plot of land on which to construct a stadium, as well as naming rights, the big problem is the fact the Giants have exclusive territorial rights to San Jose and all of Santa Clara county, and can block any team from moving onto ‘their’ land. Bud Selig being classic Mr. ‘I don’t want to get involved’ turned a blind eye to the situation and told the A’s and Giants to work things out among themselves. The Giants haven’t budged in their stance and Selig refused to put things to a vote–23 owner votes could overrule the Giants’s territorial rights. Subsequently, Selig did a weak committee study to look further into the issue to reach a resolution. It’s been 4 years after that, and nothing’s been done. I guess it’s safe to say that the s**t quite literally hit the fan for the Oakland A’s and their efforts to get a new stadium.

Houston hosts MLB diversity business summit

Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig touted the progress the league has made in racial hiring practices while stressing his desire to increase the number of African-American players in the sport. Selig spoke Wednesday at the MLB diversity business summit. The league received an A in racial hiring practices in this year's annual report by Richard Lapchick's Institute...

Commissioner mum on San Jose suit

Commissioner Bud Selig wouldn't talk about the Oakland A's stadium imbroglio before San Jose filed suit against Major League Baseball. He's definitely not talking about it now. When I asked Selig at the MLB owners' meetings last month if there was anything to report on new stadiums for the A's or Tampa Bay Rays, he said, "No. No. A lot of conversations...

The stadium is full of crap... literally

So, Bud Selig, about that whole Oakland A's moving to Santa Clara thing. Any chance we might be able to speed up the process? No rush or anything, but you might want to know that the Coliseum, where the A's currently play, is flooded with raw sewage. That seems kind of relevant, no? Yes, it is apparently an ugly sight at right now as both the A's and the...

Astros sign No. 1 overall pick RHP Mark Appel

HOUSTON (AP) -- Mark Appel received high praise from MLB commissioner Bud Selig on Wednesday when the No. 1 overall pick signed with the Houston Astros. Speaking at a MLB diversity business summit at a convention near Minute Maid Park, Selig praised Houston's rebuilding efforts. He then likened Appel, a right-handed pitcher, and Houston's 2012 No. 1 pick, shortstop Carlos...

Report: Suspensions likely in Biogenesis case

Reports leaked a few weeks ago that the “guilty” parties in the Biogenesis PED scandal would be receiving suspensions. These include household names like Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun, along with other solid plays such as Jhonny Peralta, Bartolo Colon, and Nelson Cruz. “Reports” (using the term loosely, and you’ll see why in a second) are now saying those suspensions are...

Biogenesis source savages MLB

Porter Fischer, the man who turned over records from the Biogenesis clinic to the media, called the people running Major League Baseball "the biggest scumbags on Earth."

Sewage Greets Players At Oakland Coliseum

Welcome!Anyone who has ever visited the Oakland Coliseum (AKA Coliseum) knows the truth. It is—by far—the worst venue in major league baseball. The first sign of trouble is the barbed wire fencing that greets fans as they emerge from the BART station (see pic). It goes downhill from there. Despite this, Commissioner Bud Selig continues to "study" whether or not...

Raw Sewage in Coliseum Showers Forces A’s, Mariners to Use Raiders’ Facilities

The Coliseum is currently the fifth-oldest stadium in Major League Baseball, and the only venue left in the United States to host both baseball and the NFL (Rogers Centre in Toronto hosts both the Blue Jays and the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts). Commissioner Bud Selig created a commission to study the problems surrounding the Oakland A’s inability to get a new stadium, and help...

The EDA Rhinos remove dimwitted juicehead Manny Ramirez from their roster

Despite playing well in the Chinese Professional Baseball League, the EDA Rhinos removed dimwitted juicehead Manny Ramirez from their roster on Wednesday. After garnering zero interest from any of the 30 Major League Baseball franchises, the 41-year-old Ramirez signed with the EDA Rhinos in February and hit eight homers and 43 RBI in 206 plate appearances in East Asia. A nine-time...
