I’m going to be pretty peeved if the world ends before I get a chance to see the Seahawks and 49ers rematch on Sunday. The Mayan apocalypse can wait until after we see what is shaping up to be one of the best games of the season. The implications of the game are huge; if the 49ers win the game, they claim the NFC west … if the Seahawks win, there’s still a chance that they’ll host a playoff game at CenturyLink Field. Speaking of CenturyLink field, the Seahawks close out the regular season with two games there, this week against the 49ers and next week against the St Louis Rams. The Seahawks have compiled a record of 6 and 0 at CenturyLink this year. They have been able to feed off the energy of their home crowd and have turned that into better play at home. The boost they get from the 12th man may be just enough to get them over the hump against the 49ers on Sunday night.   The Seahawks and 49ers last met at Candlestick Park way back in week seven. The 49ers pulled out a c...

Week 16 power ranks: Seattle Seahawks push towards playoffs; up the rankings with big road win

The Seattle Seahawks have made the biggest jump on our power rankings this week rising from 13 to 7 and it isn’t hard to see why. Their 108 points over the past two weeks are about the biggest statement a team can make at this time of the season and it comes as they are in the heat of a playoff race for both the NFC wildcard and the division crown. Depending on their seeding Seattle...

Seahawks are the NFL’s hottest team

Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and the Seattle Seahawks are the team that no one in the NFL wants to play right now. They are on an unbelievable roll. After going into Solider field and winning a game against the Chicago Bears that no one gave them a chance to win, The Seahawks' 150 points scored over the last three weeks are tied for third most by a team in any...

Why Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson should be Rookie of the Year

They told him he couldn’t play QB  in the NFL, after all he was too short to look over his offensive lineman. When Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson declared for the draft it didn’t matter what his film showed, he was often cast aside by scouts and front offices because of his size. It would be generous to call Russell Wilson 5″11, yet he comes out and proves every week and...

Seahawks will go Mayan on the 49ers Sunday…if the following happens.

The Hawks playoff hopes are at stake. This is it. The upstart Seahawks have erupted and shocked the NFL this season, led by Rookie of The Year candidate and American hero Russell Wilson. Here are the keys to arguably the Seahawks biggest game of the season. If Wilson Brings his A+ Game Russell Wilson has been the catalyst for the Seahawks surprising success this season. Wilson...

Harbaugh anticipates Smith being OK for Sunday

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh expects injured defensive tackle Justin Smith to be ready to play Sunday night in a key NFC West matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Smith left last Sunday night's game against New England in the third quarter with an elbow injury. The three-time Pro Bowl player underwent an MRI on Monday. "Knowing what I know of Justin Smith...

Revenge of the Fail Mary

We all knew it would come to this, right? We didn’t want to believe it but, deep down inside, we knew better. We all knew that one of the many bungled calls made by those replacement refs, who simultaneously entertained and enraged us the first three weeks of the 2012 season, would come back to haunt us. It’s almost divine providence that their most infamous call could, if the...

Morning Links 12-22-12

The NFL’s Most Valuable Player is… Russell Wilson?   Apologies in advance for jumping the gun on naming a 2012 NFL MVP.  I realize that there are still two weeks left in the regular season, but I had time to write this post today, so to hell with the NFL’s 17 week schedule!http://fantasydouche.com/2012/12/the-nfls-most-valuable-player-is-russell-wilson/?utm_source...

Seahawks Fantasy Forecast – Week 16 NFL predictions

Start ‘em & Sit ‘em Week 16 Fantasy Football – Seattle Seahawks Week 16 predictions The Seattle Seahawks are on fire! They have scored 50+ points in two straight games – amazing. But that said it hasn’t translated into a whole lotta Fantasy love unless you were one of the brave souls that started Russell Wilson last week! In Week 16 the Hawks face one of the best defenses...

Colin Kaepernick & Russell Wilson battle weather for the NFC West

No, you did not predict this in week 1. Facing off in a highly anticipated NFC West rivalry game, both the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks have a lot on the line Sunday night. A win for the 49ers and they will go on to clinch their second consecutive division title. A win for the Seahawks clinches their spot in the playoff and also leaves the NFC West title up for grabs...

Seattle Seahawks who have impressed since the Miami loss

Seattle Stand-outs! Let me preface this by saying that this is not a list of the Seahawks players who have been the most valuable to the team during the three game winning streak. It is however, a list of the 5 top players who have played above the level that I expected from them. Russell Wilson #3 Sunday’s win against the Buffalo Bills marked the 15th game this young man has...

NFL Rumors: Buffalo Bills Sick Of Playing Home Games In Canada?

The Buffalo Bills continue to make their annual pilgrimage to the Great White North to play at least one official home game in Toronto, Canada per NFL season, but that does not mean that all of the players are on board. In fact, at least one Bills player is getting sick of this tradition. Buffalo offensive lineman Eric Wood would like to play all eight home games in Ralph Wilson...

Moments in time…The Seattle Seahawks week that was

Another blow out! Two wins on the road for our Seahawks, quite a nice little surprise if you ask me. Now though, our fate is not in our hands for the divisional race, thanks to the New England Patriots letting us down on Sunday night. Yep, even when we beat San Francisco this coming Sunday night, the Seahawks faithful will have to rely on the lowly Arizona Cardinals to get a win...

Game Ticket Preview: 49ers vs Seahawks

The last time the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks met, it was an ugly defensive battle that the 49ers narrowly took away as a win, 13-6. This time around, the 49ers (as seen last week versus the Patriots) will bring a much more dynamic offense to the table with second-year quarterback Colin Kaepernick, while equally impressive rookie quarterback Russell Wilson will try to...

A brief geography lesson

Ever since the site joined Yardbarker, we have been graced by increased readership, and a more vibrant comment section. What we haven’t quite found yet is a bastion of well informed, articulate commentary. Sure, there are some diamonds in there, and I love those, because I don’t mind debate or being corrected if I am mistaken. I do truly enjoy the unhinged, nonsensical comments...

49ers-Seahawks Preview

The San Francisco 49ers need one win to clinch their second straight NFC West title. Getting that done this week will mean doing something no other team has this season - winning in Seattle. The 49ers' top-ranked scoring defense could be in for a major test Sunday night when the high-scoring Seahawks will try to clinch their second playoff berth in three seasons and stay in...
