TEAMS: Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots
I must admit, I didn't have high expectations for the Seattle Seahawks entering the 2012 NFL season. The Seahawks were one of three also-rans (Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams are the other two teams) in the NFC West, which I thought would be the worst division in the league. The San Francisco 49ers (13-3 in 2011) would easily have their way with the rest of the teams and win the division with ease.My expectations for the Seahawks were even lowered when head coach Pete Carroll announced before the start of the season that 2012 third-round draft selection Russell Wilson would start at quarterback over prized free agent Matt Flynn, who set a Green Bay Packers record by throwing for 480 yards and six touchdowns in the last regular season game of the 2011 season and was courted by several other NFL teams to be their starting quarterback. Two things convinced me during the Seahawks' start that they were a better team than last season. No. 1, spearheaded by their two tall corner...

Rookie report card: Week seven
In my weekly column, we will take a long look at two rookies. I will compare their performance to date against my original expectations of them. Let’s continue this series off by looking back at Seattle Seahawks running back Robert Turbin and Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard after their week seven games:
Robert Turbin, RB SEAHere is what I saw in college...
Seattle to be without WR Doug Baldwin vs. Detroit
Outside of some sore ribs and an ankle that was a little gimpy, injuries never became a major problem for Doug Baldwin during his breakout rookie season.
It's why Baldwin was able to lead the Seattle Seahawks in receiving, becoming the first undrafted rookie to lead his team in pass catches in more than 50 years.
This year, it's been a different health story for Baldwin...
Seattle Seahawks versus Detroit Lions could come down to Optimus Prime vs. Megatron
Man, it already feels like it’s been forever since the Seahawks last played. Sure it’s been less than a week, but that doesn’t stop it from feeling like a long time. Part of that feeling is most likely due to a desire to leave the last game the Seahawks played. I’m not saying that the Seahawks didn’t play well last Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers. All I...
Seahawks Richard Sherman changes Twitter handle to Optimus Prime
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is on a mission to validate his franchise as a serious contender.
Well Seattle takes on Detroit at 1:00 this Sunday, and Sherman decided to go Transformers on us.
We all know Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson carries the Label Megatron, and carries it very well.
Well I’m assuming Sherman wants Johnson to know he is his equal because...
DT Jones doubtful to play
Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jason Jones is doubtful to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday with an ankle injury.
Jones has been unable to practice all week after suffering the injury against the San Francisco 49ers last Thursday night. Jones has 2 1/2 sacks on the season primarily as a situational pass rusher. If he's unable to play, rookie Greg Scruggs will pick...

Seattle DB trolls Calvin Johnson
Before they match up on Sunday, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman changed his Twitter name to let everyone know he's not intimidated by Megatron.
Moments in time…The Seattle Seahawks week that was
Ouch, a heart breaker in SF
Another road game, and another lack of a passing game, or scratch that, another lack of a receiving game is more like it.
The Seahawks have had this issue for the balance of this century, yes, even in the Super Bowl year.
It’s nothing new to write about, or to get peeved about, or to even care about really.
This is just one of those things that is...
Seattle's Sherman ready for Detroit's 'Megatron'
Leave it to Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman to come up with a new way of talking about an opponent without saying a word.
Sherman, who drew plenty of attention after Seattle's win over New England for his comments about Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, changed his name on his Twitter page Wednesday to ''Optimus Prime,'' a Transformers character. That wouldn...
Seahawks young defensive backs fire back at Jim Harbaugh for crying about rough play
The Seahawks responded to comments from 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and his belief that Seattle’s defensive backs were overly physical with San Francisco’s wide receivers in the Thursday night game, to the point he intended on speaking with the league. You’re supposed to be happy after you win a football game, right? I’m not big for media anyway. That’s just who he is, I guess...

Richard Sherman talks a big game. He did it against Tom Brady. He will do it with any player. Sherman and his Seattle Seahawks secondary has been stellar in 2012, and they will look to continue their run against another once vaunted pass offense in the Detroit Lions.
But Sherman may have done something that is ill advised.
He may have woken a sleeping giant.
Well, not a real giant...
