Found September 22, 2013 on Redlegs Review:
Shin-Soo Choo hopes to be back in the Reds lineup when the team plays host to the New York Mets on Monday. Choo injured his left thumb on a play in the ninth inning of Friday's game when he slid headfirst into first base. Fortunately, X-rays taken on his thumb Saturday were negative. “The bones and everything are OK,” he said. “That eased my mind. I was scared. Last time, I needed surgery to fix it. That’s why I was worried.” Choo had surgery on the same thumb in 2011. “He knows he didn’t do a very smart thing,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “I hate to see guys slide headfirst, especially in first. You don’t get there any quicker. Actually, you get there slower. There’s a lot of things you can hurt." Derrick Robinson started Saturday's game in centerfield in Choo's absence. Billy Hamilton got the starting nod in place of Choo in Sunday's contest. Via Cincinnati Enquirer

Reds stun Pirates with three runs in ninth

From Blue September Comes Red October

Congratulations to the Cincinnati Reds for clinching a playoff spot against your New York Mets. They did so via the cold hands of Shin Soo Choo, who had three hits and drove in two runs.
