Found May 24, 2013 on The Majors Detroit:
First the Red Wings continued to shutdown the Blackhawks then they finished it by shutting them out. Thursday night Detroit took another step towards the Western Conference Finals defeating the President’s Trophy winning Blackhawks 2-0 in Game 4 from the Joe. Jimmy Howard made 28 saves to earn his first shutout of these playoffs as Jakub Kindle scored the game winner with Dan Cleary icing it late for the Wings’ second goal. Kindl’s goal though not only was the game winner, it marked the first time during the playoffs that the Blackhawks would give up a power play goal. But even beyond the power play goal and how Jimmy Howard has been playing… the Wings are simply into the heads of the Blackhawks, especially Jonathan Toews. Despite scoring 23 goals in a shortened 2013 campaign, Toews is scoreless in nine postseason games and took three consecutive penalties Thursday night one of which resulted in the Kindl goal. Plus, it’s not like Toews is contributing in other areas for the Blackh...

Jimmy Howard’s Remarkable 2-on-1 Save Preserves Game 4 Shutout: Video

Jimmy Howard turned aside 28 shots Thursday night in a sensational effort to hand the Detroit Red Wings a 2-0 win and 3-1 series lead over the Chicago Blackhawks. No save was more important — or more impressive — than his sprawling denial of Dave Bolland’s shot during a Chicago 2-on-1. Detroit defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo got caught trying to make a play at center ice, freeing...

Jonathan Toews wants you to know that Jonathan Toews is a great player, and Toews will be fine

The Vancouver Sun's Cam Cole took note of the attention Jonathan Toews' shenanigans receieved from the Detroit press during and after the Red Wings' 2-0 win over Chicago on Thursday, as well as the after-the-fact comments about Toews losing his temper on Friday. So Cole attended the Blackhawks' Friday practice, and after asking Brent Seabrook whether he calmed Toews...

Red Wings-Blackhawks Game 4 quick take: stranglehold

Very briefly: Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard was nothing less than a superstar and the Detroit Red Wings played, well...Ugly hockey on Thursday night, mucking, grinding and just plain old out-working the Chicago Blackhawks en route to a 2-0 win and taking 3-1 series lead heading into Game 5 on Saturday. Howard earned the shutout on 28 saes. Jakub Kindl scored the only goal the...

Zetterberg getting best of Toews

DETROIT -- He's won a Stanley Cup, the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs MVP and even an Olympic Gold medal. But Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has just one assist in four games of the Western Conference semifinals. And after Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings in Game 4 , his team is one game away from elimination and his frustration is boiling over...

Red Wings-Blackhawks Preview

Jonathan Toews is going to play his usual minutes. Corey Crawford will be in goal. The lines will look largely the same. Don't expect any major changes for the Chicago Blackhawks when they try to extend their season in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series against Detroit on Saturday night. After three consecutive losses to the rolling Red Wings, Toews and Co. think they...

Michael Wilbon refers to Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard as “Jimmy Williams”

On Pardon The Interruption on Friday, Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon were asked to talk about the NHL Playoffs and which team, the New York Rangers or Chicago Blackhawks, had a better chance of coming back from a 3-1 series deficit.  Unfortunately, that’s when Wilbon made a pretty huge mistake.  As a Blackhawks fan, you’d figure that Wilbon would know who the Detroit Red...

Red Wings force Blackhawks to make changes

Chicago -- While the Detroit Red Wings seem to have found combinations that work, the Chicago Blackhawks are going back to a once-successful combination out of desperation. After scoring just two goals in the last three games, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville is putting Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp together on the top line. "Its exciting," Kane said...

Wings shut out Blackhawks in Game 4

Jakub Kindl scored on a power play in the second period, Daniel Cleary had an empty-net goal and Jimmy Howard made 27 saves to help the Detroit Red Wings hold on for a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night, putting the NHL's best team during the regular season on the brink of elimination. After losing Game 1, the seventh-seeded Red Wings have surged into...

Wings falter in 4-1 loss to Blackhawks

CHICAGO (AP) -- Jonathan Toews and Andrew Shaw scored power-play goals in the second period, and the Chicago Blackhawks avoided elimination with a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night in Game 5 of the second-round playoff series. Shaw added his third career playoff goal in the third as the Blackhawks stopped the Red Wings' three-game winning streak by creating...

Cotsonika: Red Wings no longer a powerhouse, remain dangerous

The Detroit Red Wings and their fans have gotten used to the concept of the Wings playing the underdog and/or spoiler's role over the past season, but it's definitely a different and/or unfamiliar position for the team to be in, and ahead of Game 5 against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight (8 PM EDT, NBC/CBC/97.1, with post-game shows on FSD and WDIV), Yahoo Sports' Nicholas...

Red Wings-Blachawks Game 5 set-up: Wings hope to match Hawks’ resolve with disciplined effort

The Detroit Red Wings head into Game 5 against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight (8 PM EDT, NBC/CBC/97.1 FM, and FSD will air a post-game show) holding a 3 games to 1 series lead, but they face a strange and difficult opponent for several reasons: First, as the Hawks repeatedly mentioned on Friday, they rallied from a 3-0 series deficit against the Vancouver Canucks in 2011, and forced...

This may be your ‘evening line’

The boss is under the weather and I'm feeling poorly enough that I'm going to take a "post-game nap," which I never do (would've done it had the Wings won). KK may be a little quiet tonight due to the so Paul and I will update the site with content as we are able. So I'll leave you with this "evening line," suggest that you vent away in the Red...
