The Andrew Bynum saga looks as if it has pretty much come to an end. Bynum who has no time-table for a return might never take the court this season. Looking into the future, should the Sixers take a chance on Bynum and sign him to a long-term deal? Afterall when the Sixers signed him he was “the second best center in the league.” Emphatically NO! Taking a chance on Bynum and his “ailing knees” would doom the Sixers to mediocrity for at minimum the five years (or more) Bynum would demand under contract. If you are unsure of this being the right move for the Sixers, take a good look at their history of centers with bad knees (which now Bynum is a part of). The icing on the cake for the unsure, SIR CHARLES  said so! On WIP radio yesterday Charles Barkley was on and when asked the question “if the Sixers should lock up Bynum”, Barkley in his direct way also confirmed the answer of  NO. Going on to state the obvious of taking a chance on a player with bad knees would ruin the franchise. Going on to also state the obvious flaws in the Sixers franchise for many years, (that it has stunk) for the exception of the Iverson run to the finals. Good enough for us? Sir Charles, outspoken Sixers GREAT and the person Philly Sports World would have loved to see become our General Manager has got this one right. No need to sugar coat it, A WASTE OF MONEY!  Similar Posts: Bynum’s Oct 24 return, a new era to begin but for how long? Replacing Bynum, would Greg Oden be a good fit for the rest of the season?
