The San Jose Earthquakes (5-9-6) entertain the Seattle Sounders FC (7-6-3) on Saturday night at Buck Shaw Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., as the Earthquakes will be playing their first home game after an extended stretch on the road. The team did play at Stanford Stadium back on June 29, but hasn’t taken the field at Buck Shaw since May 18 when they played the Colorado Rapids to a 1-1 draw. The game with the Sounders will be the third for the Earthquakes in eight days. The club is currently languishing in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, and has collected just 21 points through the first 20 games of the season. The team is currently eight points off the pace for the final playoff spot. The Earthquakes lost their most recent game to the New England Revolution 2-0 on Saturday. The team was playing shorthanded at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and had just 16 players in uniform due to injuries, suspensions and international call-ups. The lo...

Chris Wondolowski Embraces Misspelled Name on Jersey, Scores Hat-Trick For U.S. Soccer Against Belize

Chris Wondolowski has trouble scoring goals the international level. Chris Wondowlowski doesn’t have that problem. On Monday, Wondolowski scored a first-half hat-trick for the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team in its 6-1 win over Belize. He filled up the nets while wearing a jersey that had his name misspelled on the back. The U.S. striker’s name was spelled: W-o-n-d-o-w-l-o...

USA Soccer’s Chris Wondolowski’s name spelled wrong on his jersey

For the USA/Belize soccer game, Chris Wondolowski’s name was spelled wrong on the back of his jersey.  In the first half, his jersey had an extra W on it and said Wondowloswki.  It should be noted that despite his name being spelled wrong, he scored three goals in the first half.   To start the second half he came out with a new jersey with the correct spelling of his name...

Chris Wondolowski scores two more goals with an extra ‘W’ in his jersey (Photo)

Jersey issues fixed, Chris Wondolowski is still scoring goals for the USMNT. And it’s probably because he’s keeping the now-infamous extra (and possibly lucky) ‘W’ on his jersey even though the rest of us can’t see it. The Earthquakes striker tallied two goals as a substitute as the US rallied to pummel Cuba, 4-1, in their second game of Gold Cup action. After the game...

Wondolowski scores twice, US beats Cuba 4-1

Chris Wondolowski - with his jersey name spelled correctly this time - scored two more goals to raise his total to five in two matches, and the United States came from behind to beat Cuba 4-1 Saturday and advance to the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals. Landon Donovan converted his second penalty kick of the tournament for his 53rd international goal, Joe Corona got his first international...

Wondolowski Hits Hat Trick as USMNT Cruises Past Belize

In his first nine games with the Unites States men’s national team, striker Chris Wondolowski failed to find the back of the net. Now, the San Jose Earthquakes all-time leading score has produced four goals in his last two games. On Tuesday night, Wondolowski collected a first-half hat trick as the United States smashed Belize 6-1 at Jeld-Wen Field in Portland, Oregon in the opening...

Sounders-Earthquakes Preview

While the Seattle Sounders haven't had much trouble scoring at home, that certainly hasn't been the case when they've gone on the road.
