Predators putting D Weber in injured reserve

Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber is sidelined indefinitely with a concussion.According to the Nashville Tennessean, Weber is expected to be put on injured reserve in order to free up a roster spot. He has eight goals and 21 assists this season and has not been able to take the ice since suffering the injury on Dec. 23 in a game against the Dallas Stars.

Weber's concussion extends problem for NHL

It has struck like a pestilence in the NHL this season -- concussions affecting many of the games top stars. Pittsburghs Sidney Crosby. Philadelphias Claude Giroux and Chris Pronger. New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal. Add to that list, most recently, Nashville defenseman Shea Weber, who is having perhaps as good of a season as any defenseman in the NHL with 8 goals, 21 assists...

Erat lifts Weber-less Preds over Blues

Shea Weber is still out with a concussion but, thus far, the Preds have been just fine. For the second consecutive game, the Nashville Predators got a victory without Weber by going to a shootout. On Wednesday, the Predators defeated the Wild in a shootout, and tonight (also for the second consecutive matchup between the Preds and Blues) they beat the St. Louis Blues 2-1 in a shootout...

Predators Insider: Injuries come at worst time

Last season, the Predators withstood the lengthy absences of defenseman Ryan Suter and goalie Pekka Rinne. But the news Tuesday, one day after the Predators' 4-1 loss to the Red Wings, that defenseman Shea Weber is out with a concussion could hurt more than the others. Granted, Rinne and Suter are both elite players, but they're not the captain of this team. Weber is Nashville...

Agent For Shea Weber Upset With Hit From Fistric

from TSN, A day after Shea Weber’s concussion was announced, the Nashville defenceman’s agent has told TSN that he is not very happy that there was no additional punishment for the player who hit him. “It is very disappointing that Mark Fistric’s hit on Shea Weber in Dallas last Friday is not being looked at as a suspendable act,” said Jarrett Bousquet, Weber’s agent...

Mark Fistric hit on Shea Weber

Right now there is a major debate by the hockey pundits to ban fighting in hockey but as Greg Wyshynski of Puck Daddy mentioned, none of the players Sidney Crosby, Jeff Skinner, Simon Gagne, Shea Weber are not out of hockey because they were hurt in a fight. They were hit in the head, some of them were hit with dirty hits like this. Ironically, the above embedded video didn'...

One more thing: Blum stepping up his game

In two games without Shea Weber, the rest of the defense has performed admirably in stepping as a unit. One defenseman that has stood out in that time has been Jonathon Blum. He was reassigned to Milwaukee on December 12th, and was recalled a week later. Blum stated at the time that he used that demotion as a motivation. In the last two games he has looked and felt more comfortable...

The Morning After Round-Up: Predators 2, Wild 1 (SO)

As I wrote in yesterday's pre-game assessment, last night's contest was one that was set up to be one in need of a true "Predator way" win where all 20 players pulled on the rope equally to gut out a victory in spite of being somewhat under-manned, without Shea Weber and Kevin Klein. That was exactly what transpired. For 65 minutes it was a down in the trenches...

Future Looks Fuzzy

Shea Weber, Simon Gagne and John-Michael Liles have brought the NHL's concussion total to an alarming 64 this season. Stu Hackel says a solution is crucial to the sport's fortunes.

Making rosters trimmer could have healthy effect

The NHL returned from its Christmas break last Monday evening, and by Tuesday afternoon there were more lumps of coal to report on the concussion front. Los Angeles’s Simon Gagne, Nashville’s Shea Weber, and Toronto’s John-Michael Liles (not all of them injured Monday night) were added to the fraternity of addled brains, increasing the league’s working number of head/brain...
