At New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon this past weekend, Regan Smith didn’t hide the fact that he wouldn’t be with his current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, the No. 78 Chevrolet of Furniture Row Racing, in 2013. He went on to say that he was in talks with other race teams, including some in the Nationwide Series.
On Monday, an announcement from Furniture Row Racing made it all official. The organization sent out a press release announcing the hiring of Kurt Busch to drive the No. 78 next year.
“Furniture Row Racing has the commitment, talent and resources to compete at a high level in the Sprint Cup Series,” Busch said. “I have watched with admiration on how this team has grown over the years, and that is why I am excited about this opportunity as I eagerly look forward to a new chapter in my racing career.”
