It seems that any time the Montreal Canadiens have more than a day off rumours, inuendo and other forms of insanity start to swirl.
And swirl they did the last few days with the revelation that Habs All-Star defenseman, Andrei Markov, was not ready for play and would need another operation on his twice surgically repaired knee.

The Big Salary Bear Trap
When you consider that the Montreal Canadiens have put up a .500 record through 27 games, you don't really think about it as a positive.
Not when you've had to fire an assistant coach and overcome a swath of injuries that have overwhelmed the medical staff.
Yet if you consider that the Habs have been without Andrei Markov for all 27 games...

Curtis Sanford was perfect in the tiebreaker, turning aside David Desharnais, Max Pacioretty and Brian Gionta. Gionta scored a goal with 1:21 left in regulation to send the game to overtime.

The Montreal Canadiens have yet to lose in regulation this season when leading after two periods. The Columbus Blue Jackets have also fared well in those situations, but that wasn't the case their last time out.
Montreal begins a stretch of five of six at home Tuesday night when the Blue Jackets try to close out their trip with a .500 record.
