AP on Fox
(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By NANCY ARMOUR AP National Writer His college career all of seven games old, George Atkinson III is already making a name for himself at Notre Dame.
The son of the former Oakland Raiders great scored his second touchdown on a kickoff return Saturday night against Southern California. That matches the Irish single-season record, and makes him one of just four players in the country with two TDs off kickoff returns. He's averaging 30.4 yards per return, sixth-best in the country.
Atkinson, whose twin brother Josh is an Irish cornerback, says the secret to his success is speed and key blocks. Good genes don't hurt, either.
