Sports no longer in the Summer Olympic Games

The Olympics included art competitions from 1912-1948. Medals were awarded for architecture, literature, music, painting and sculpture.

America's national pastime got full sport status in 1992 but was discontinued after 2008 in the midst of Major League Baseball's PED issues.

Various canoeing events were included in the Olympics in 1936, 1948, 1952 and 1956. They've since been discontinued.

Roque is a hard-surface form of croquet. It was included only in the 1904 Olympics in St. Louis.

Running deer shooting was in the Olympics from 1908-1948. A running, deer-shaped target was shot by the participants.

Softball was included from 1996-2008 but eliminated from the Games along with baseball.

Solo synchronized swimming was included in 1984, 1988 and 1992 before being discontinued.

The standing high jump was in the Games in 1900, 1904, 1908 and 1912 before being discontinued.

The 200-meter swimming obstacle race was included in the 1900 Olympics.

Tug-of-war was included from 1900-1920. Teams of eight participated in the event.

Underwater swimming was included only in 1900. Athletes were given points for remaining under water.
