Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert was a guest Tuesday morning on 105 The X Radio and clarified his reasoning as to why the organization is more open to trading down in the first round of the NFL draft than up. His answer was not surprising, but it no way signified that they are guaranteed to move down on Thursday.
"The first thing that you got to do is to look at our own team, and we had significant numbers of departures," said Colbert. "So, the only way that we can realistically replenish those departures is through the draft. There may still be some free agent signings, talking Read more [...]

BIG BEN'S HEIR?
Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert reportedly said the team is open to the possibility of selecting a quarterback in this year's draft.
The 2013 NFL draft will get underway in New York City Thursday evening, so it is now time for my final Pittsburgh Steelers mock draft of the year.
Mock drafts are never satisfying to me as the odds of getting all of the picks correct really doesn't exist. The process, however, is satisfying, as I get a chance to watch a lot of tape and read a ton of material on several of the...
After James Harrison was cut by the Steelers the thought was that the Baltimore Ravens would be a good fit for him moving forward. Staying within the same division is good for players because they already know the other teams so going to the Ravens made sense. Harrison’s agent set up a meeting between Harrison and Baltimore, but before that date came the Ravens had signed Elvis...
Karl Walter/Getty Images Zimbio.com Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said Monday during the Steelers’ pre-draft press conference that the team would not trade up in the first round and feels there will be a good player available at the 17th overall pick.
In case you missed it, my podcast co-host David Todd had the Greg Cosell on his ESPN 970 radio show on Monday. It is a very good interview as Cosell talks linebackers, wide receivers, safeties and much, much more related to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the upcoming draft. In addition to the interview, Cosell also released his first round mock draft on Monday and has the Steelers taking...
Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said Monday, via Steel City Insider, that the Steelers probably won’t be trading up from the No. 17 pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft.
Tell us something we don’t know.
The real question is whether the Steelers will trade down in the first round.
As Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette pointed out, there isn’t...
When it comes down to the NFL Draft, fifty percent is evaluation and the other fifty is plain luck.
However, Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert understands that scenario, and though as good as the Steelers are in the drafting business, there are pitfalls and false gold.
Colbert talks of doing the due diligence, getting to know the players, trying to gauge their intelligence...
I admit that I am like most fans of professional football in that I get excited for the release of the upcoming season’s schedule but for different reasons perhaps.
For me, it signals that we are extremely close to the NFL Draft and that the season itself is drawing nearer as well. What I don’t understand is why so many fans and experts enjoy getting caught up in their teams’...
The upcoming NFL Draft will impact every team in the league,
but Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert told reporters during
today’s press conference that the future of several veterans will be impacted
by the selections the club makes this weekend. Specifically, who the Steelers
do or do not draft could impact the team’s willingness to sign free agents
Previously, we discussed the 12 players worthy of being drafted with the No. 17 pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2013 NFL draft.
Now let’s look at seven more players the Steelers could take in the first round, but only if they trade down from No. 17. These players come with some questions, so if the Steelers draft them, they’ll need to hedge their bets by acquiring more...
Who are these Pittsburgh Steelers? The team that made its name in the NFL with a vicious defense and a head down, run up the middle offense has lost its identity. Once upon a time the Steelers had the attitude towards opposing defenses that “we know that you know what we are going to do, [...]
Season 3, Episode 95 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I start off discussing the extension given to Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Steve McLendon following his visit with the Green Bay Packers. We also look back at the way the team handled all of their restricted free agents this offseason.
James Harrison has now signed with the Cincinnati Bengals so we...
Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers decided to move on from him, Bengals linebacker James Harrison doesn’t hate them.
“I don’t have a chip on my shoulder against the Steelers,” Harrison said, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I don’t hate the Steelers. All the things they’re saying, that the media is blowing it up to be … am I disappointed? Yeah, I’m disappointed...
The 2013 NFL Draft is approaching faster than James Harrison can say Whodey!!! With the draft so close we should have at least a general idea of who the Pittsburgh Steelers might draft with their first round pick, but even the experts can’t agree. We searched through many different sites and articles to find the [...]
The Pittsburgh Steelers don't think they'll find an impact player with the 17th pick in this week's draft.
That's fine by general manager Kevin Colbert, who believes it takes any player at least one season to figure out how to play for one of the NFL's marquee franchises.
There are plenty of holes to fill in Pittsburgh, which lost a handful of starters to free...
