Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn’t believe the Steelers would be interested in resigning free agent nose tackle Casey Hampton even if he’s not ready to retire yet. Hampton will be turning 36 years-old in early September, it doesn’t make sense for the Steelers to bring him back.  It’s time to reload and move on.  They’ll be just fine without him.   Need NFL Tickets? The post Steelers likely won’t re-sign Casey Hampton appeared first on Pro Football Zone.

  • I am more confident with Casey Hampton at NT than anyone else on the roster. Hampton is proven and no one else is! People were excited about McLendon because he had a strong training camp, but he still got beat out by Hampton. That is the same Hampton that just came off an ACL injury!
  • Yea, I tend to agree. I think McLendon was given a chance to win the starting job last season but couldn't despite Hampton's early struggles. He seems to fit the Chris Hoke back-up role more than an every down NT; he plays the pass much better than the run.

Maybe he ends up replacing Hood who is slated to be a FA in 2013?

Don’t Bet On Steelers DE Cameron Heyward Opening The Season As A Starter

With Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward now entering his third season in the league, many believe that he will open the 2013 season as a starter, but I wouldn't be so quick to bet on that happening. Motivation for Ben Just Keeps Mounting

He’s hurt all the time. He hasn’t had a fourth quarter comeback in forever. It was his fault Mike Wallace left because he couldn’t throw it deep enough for him. He makes the wrong audibles. He was too ‘chummy’ with Bruce Arians and he is clearly the reason the team lost Super Bowl XLV and went 8-8 last year. Ben Roethlisberger is a lot of things, but he isn’t Atlas. He...
