Found February 04, 2013 on Steelers Depot:
The Pittsburgh Steelers officially severed ties on Monday with one of their 2012 draft picks as running back Chris Rainey was officially waived, according to Bob Labriola on Twitter. The Steelers announced back on January 10 that the Florida product would be waived following his simple battery arrest earlier that day down in Gainesville, Florida. NFL rules, however, prevented the Steelers from officially waiving him until after the Super Bowl. "Chris Rainey's actions this morning were extremely disappointing," Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said in a statement released by the team Read more [...]

Steelers’ Offense is in Serious Trouble

The more I look at last season the more ticked I get about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 8-8 record. Clearly this team was better than that and there is enough blame to fill a ballroom. Unfortunately, when I start looking at the Steelers’ offense in 2013 I can’t say my anger subsides very much. Let’s consider what the holes the offense has to fill as we sit here in early February...

Ravens Super Bowl Win Bad for Nation, Great for Steelers

Having had a chance to digest what I admit was a very entertaining and bizarre Super Bowl, here is what I think: Let’s just get this out of the way up front. No self-respecting, card-carrying Citizen of the original sports nation can say they are happy with how this Super Bowl played out. The ravens winning their second Super Bowl by beating the San Francisco 49ers means that we...

Grading the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Round-by-Round Value in 2001 and 2002 NFL Drafts

The 2012 Pittsburgh Steelers roster included players from each of the last 13 NFL drafts. Casey Hampton was drafted in 2001. Larry Foote and Brett Keisel were drafted in 2002. Even the 2000 draft was represented when first-round pick Plaxico Burress rejoined the Steelers. The benefit of that class essentially was tapped out, however, when left tackle Marvel Smith was injured in Week...

Steelers Officially Place RB Chris Rainey On Waivers

Bob Labriola reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers have officially placed RB Chris Rainey on waivers today. Rainey was arrested back in January for allegedly pulling his girlfriend out of a car and slapping her across the face. He recently pleaded no contest to the charges of disorderly conduct. The Steelers took Rainey in the fifth-round of last year’s draft, but didn’t...

Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley Made Over As Run DMC Member For ESPN The Magazine

Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley is about to start his offseason training program out in Arizona this month after taking in the UFC fight and Super Bowl this past weekend out in Las Vegas. It also appears that Woodley took time out recently to take part in a photo shoot for the upcoming Feb. 18 Music issue of ESPN The Magazine. Woodley, along with Seattle...

Are Voters Holding Jerome Bettis Out Of The Hall Of Fame Because Of His YPC Average?

The third time was not the charm for former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis as he was not elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2013 on Saturday. Most of the arguments I have read as to why Bettis should not get in right now seem to revolve around the fact that he finished his career with less than a 4.0 yards per average. If indeed this is the general...

Steelers still have unfinished business with Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers fans nearly had their prayers answered when a power surge caused a partial power failure during the third quarter of the Super Bowl. However the failure only lasted approximately 15 minutes. When action resumed, despite a valiant effort by the San Francisco 49ers, the Baltimore Ravens managed to hold on and win their second title in team history. Much to the...

2012 Grades, Position by Position, Offensive Line

So, we arrive to arguably the hardest position to grade in the entire game. There are a multitude of stats for every position on the field except for offensive lineman. The reason for that is that you only notice these guys when they do something bad or mess up. The good news is, we can still use stats to try to determine the level of play we saw from the big men up front this past...

Hritz: Steelers Mock Draft 2013 Version 1.0

By Jeremy Hritz The 2013 NFL Draft is still a ways off, but it is never too early to begin prognosticating the players the Pittsburgh Steelers will select. Below is the first edition of my mock draft, and you can expect it to evolve multiple times as we advance through the offseason. Player availability and moves made in free agency will have a tremendous impact on what the team...

With the season in the books, it’s time to break down the Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster. We’ll move along alphabetically in a 5-parter. Here’s N through S:
